Sensory Integration (non-spectrum)

Hey! Has anyone been dx'd with a sensory integreation problem as an adult (not on the autism spectrum)? If so, what kind of treatment have you sought out for it?

I was recently switched from hyperacusis to sensory integration disorder to find better treatment, but, unfortunately, there just doesn't seem to be much out there for adults.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone had!!

I am 17 and am suspected to have SPD. My therapist is certain that I do fall on the spectrum, but I am not totally convinced this is true. I agree that there isn't much out there for adults at all - it's hard to even get a dx because most of the testing is structured for young children!

what is sensory integration?

I cannot say for sure, I think its a type of therapy to de-sensetize people to sensory issue. I personally think it would cause me more pain than help me as from what I hear it basically involves being exposed to sensory input that's uncomfortable and painful till you get used to it and learn to deal with it with a smile on your face.

I am however a pessimist though so don't take my word for how it would be. But yeah no way would I subject myself to that If I am right about how it works.
