Need opinions....I keep having nightmares about members of my family dying. I never used to dream like this. My fiance says he's awakened by me nearly once a night with me talking in my sleep or screaming no. I don't know what is going on with me. I remember the dreams very clearly, whereas I never used to remember them. I've also been talking in my sleep a lot lately, which I never used to do. Sometimes it's funny stuff, other times it's not. I'm really worried about this. Any opinions on what I should do? I am not sure if I need to see a doctor about this. It's about to drive me crazy, because the dreams are making me really depressed. I don't even live in the same country as my family anymore, which worries me too, because I don't have a way to watch them closely. *sigh*....I'm so confused.

Sniffles,

I'm not any good at dream interpretations.....I have dream problem myself...but sounds like the worry of not being close to your family may be causing thoughts in your unconscious that may be coming out in your dreams.

Dr's (Pdocs) don't usually give meds or even Dx's if your situation isn't causing problems in your daily living for quite awhile....then they can try to figure out what the problem is.

Sounds like talking to someone like a T might be a good thing for you.....allowing you to express what you are thinking..& maybe be able to get it out in order for you to put into perspective your dreams & sleep talking.

I talked in my sleep all of my life....& I never had a psych problem until I was 41 years old (for me there was no correlation between my talking in my sleep & my problems). However after going through a trauma, I have been haunted with continual nightmares & flashbacks that occur when I am between sleep & awake (flashbacks come at other times also).

I know that when I talked in my sleep & was heard, it was usually something really funny that made no sense at all.

Hope you aren't bothered too much with those dreams,
Debbie

I am very sorry to hear that, and hope that you can get better soon.Sometimes there is nothing serious but we frihgten ourselves.I think everyone can have nightmares. That means nothing.I think there may be something unhappy in your daily life,or you are worried about something,so you have nightmares.Well,do something you like, and relax yourself.Make frequent talking with your friends. The most important thing is to fulfill yourself.
Best wishes !

I suffer from very much the same thing, so sniffles, while I am not able to offer anything constructive, I am grateful for your post as I would be interested in what others have to say. (Eskielover said some very valid things).

Sometimes dreams are just that, and nothing more. Often it is our brain trying to work though IRL issues. Not always. If you can't figure anything out from them, it's probably not anything, imo. TC Need opinions

Hi sniffles ,

I can relate to your terrifying dreams. I went through a period of time where I had the same type of dreams yu are having. Also, my dreams seem more vivid now and I can remember more of my dreams then I used too.

I try to keep it in perpective mostly. I do realise that dreams are dreams. However, if I were you, I would speak to a Dr because you say the dreams are affecting your mood and you dont want to ignore those warning signs.

There are tons of dream interpretation books available out there. I can tell you that dreams of death do not mean death in translation of the dream. (hope that made sense)

Take care.

Wow, I have strange dreams too!!! If you are on meds (I am on venlafaxine, sleeping tablets and hormone replacement therapy) it may cause you to have very vivid and bizarre dreams, especially if you are on hormone replacement, dont know why but............... but i know what you mean though, it's very scary. I have started to listen to nice gentle music when i go to sleep which seems to have helped some.
