The child within me is playful,
beautiful and expressive.

Taken from the book: Affirmations for the Inner Child
by Rokelle Lerner

There is a child within me who needs love and attention. It is the precious child that knows how to play and accept love. It is this precious child that I am discovering.

Today I open my heart to my inner child and know that it still lives in me today. Throughout the day, I will let the memories of my childhood flow. Whether painful or pleasant, I know these memories will help me discover an important part of myself that I've ignored.

I will nurture the child within me with tenderness and warmth. As I love and accept the child within me, I feel the wonderful playful part of me emerge.

Tomi,

Thank you for posting this. I've read this before. I have so much trouble with it because my child only knows pain. My adult knows, accepts, and gives love freely. But my child doesn't know how to play, or how to love or be loved. I'm working on this, but it's a long process. Even my T is getting frustrated...Nurturing

{{{{{{{{{{{{BP}}}}}}}}}}}}}}} If you dig deep enough, you'll find that little boy that missed out on all the love he deserved and needed. No doubt he'll be in pain so be patient with him and love him like he was one of your children. Nurturing

Today, my "inner child" is really pouting. She's having a tough time with the fact that Santa Clause doesn't come see her anymore, she's angry that the Christmas lights didn't get put up on the outside of the house, it seems as if someone stole a box with her hand crochetted angel for the tree she made a couple of years ago. The tree won't be finished until there's an angel on the top.

So... I'm going to ask Jerry to please start doing the baking he decided he wanted to do this year. I'm going to busy myself finishing up some Christmas decoration kits I bought and hadn't planned on doing. I'm going to play Christmas songs even if Jerry wants to play his "***** kicking" music. hehe

Aaah! It's tough to get motivated, but I'm going to do it for "her." I know I'll feel a thousand times better when I get started. Nurturing

I've kissed any more decorating good-bye for this year. It's too close to Christmas to put the lights up. They'll just have to come down soon. Nurturing Nurturing ::: stomping both feet :::

Anyway, Jerry did bake the fruitcakes. WOW! It took three large pans to bake it all! I didn't have a bowl or a pan big enough for him to mix it in. When it came time to mix the fruit with the batter, we had to do it in two of my largest pots!! Nurturing He says tomorrow we're going shopping for the ingredients for a Yorkshire pudding! I'm gonna have citrus peels coming out of my ears!! LOL

He did nurture my "little girl," though, without even knowing it. He brought me one of the beaters to lick clean while he licked the other one. LOL Then he brought me the empty pot from the batter to scrape clean. He said it was because I had been a good little girl and had helped Daddy when he needed it. LOLOL Hey now! Just what did he mean?? Hmmm.... Ah, well... it was fun. Nurturing

I finished making one kit of ornaments; angels made of clear beads and the clear glass balls that I paint. Nurturing I'm so proud of myself!! As if my tree wasn't already loaded down with ornaments! What the hey! hehe

When I go outside, I'll just close my eyes so that I don't see that the lights aren't up. HUMF!

How about asking your neighbour (Mike?) to put the lights up for you? You are always doing something for him maybe he can return the favour this time?

I am giggling at Jerry calling you his little girl.....isn't that sweet? He does have that sensitive side hun when he wants to doesn't he? I think Santa is going to be good to you this year....you have been good Nurturing.

Tomi, I'm going to make a plea for you to not give up on the lights. Even if you don't get them all up, and even if they won't be up for a whole month, if it makes you feel good to see them, then it's worth the time. There have been years when I've been so busy I don't get my decorations up until Christmas Eve. Even this year, my tree only has a handful of ornaments on it so far, and I have a big box of greens that still need to be put out (hopefully before they become a box of "browns"! Nurturing ). But whether you get things up early or late, Christmas is always a transient season, so let your little girl have lights to ooo and aaah over, even if it's only for a week or two. You know, sometimes I feel like putting the last things up on Christmas Eve helps make that night more special, like adding the final touches on the most important night of the season. I just thought of something...if you really can't get the lights up, maybe you could put luminaries out on Christmas Eve. A lot of neighborhoods around me do that, and it looks so beautiful. And all it takes are some lunch bags, sand and a cheap box of tea light candles. Anyway, it's just a thought. I'd just hate to see your little girl missing the lights.

(BTW, can you tell I'm a nut for Christmas time? Nurturing )

*hugs*

What great ideas you have. I am a Christmas nut too Nurturing. My birthday is Christmas Day (hint hint LOL) and I have always gone all out with decorations....lights....a huge tree. This year is a bit bittersweet for me but the kids are so excited and that to me is the main thing.

We should all get together at Tomi's and have a hanging the lights party Nurturing.

ROFL!!! Oh my... Heather, you're so funny!! Mike?? Put up my lights??? ROFL! No... I won't go there... but you know why I'm laughing. Even if I gave him step by step instructions, he wouldn't understand, and then he'd give me nothing but arguments of why not that way.

Don't expect anything from Santa this year. David is the only one that gives me anything ever and I told him "no more." I don't need him to get me anything, anymore. Some time this year I'll get my retro check. gggrrrrr I was waiting for it at this time FOUR years ago!!! Nurturing Nurturing Get something from Jerry?? LOL Not unless I extracted it from him! LOL

I'll settle for my retro check for Christmas! Nurturing Good old Uncle Sam. Nurturing

MJ, my "little girl" inside is going "yeah! yeah!" so maybe I'll at least put up the lights that go around the rail of the deck. I have greenery wrapped around the light cord then I tie it up with red bows. That should be easy enough to do.

There is something to be said about putting up decorations on Christmas Eve. You don't get so used to seeing it by Christmas Day like the tree and stuff.

OOOOH! Greenery! If only I had a mantle! Nurturing Are you "decking the halls"? Sounds so beautiful!

Luminaries sounds beautiful!! Nurturing Hmmm... thinking of doing something to the bags... painting snow flakes? Cutting them out? Hmmm.... Got plenty of tea lights! hehehe It's sounding better and better... You got a way about you, MJ! Nurturing

When I lived in PA, that was a beautiful tradition, that my town and the neighboring ones shared, we would pay our little neighborhood co-ordinator (or buy our own) candles, and bags, while the week before Christmas or even days before, a truck would deliver sand at the end of our road where the woods use to be (now Toll bros. developement) it use to look so beautiful to drive through the area and see this, and when my child was a "child" and he was finally asleep (and hubby too, ha!ha!) I'd stair out into the nite (wee hours of the AM) and see the candle were still aglow, man, how I miss those days.
Last minute "decorator" again this year, as time goes on I seem to do less and less, hope the "inner child" comes back next Christmas season.
One good thing, you can get a lot of nursery greens and stuff at discount prices, ha!ha!
Happy Holidays to you all

MJ, as soon as I finish my coffee and going through these posts, I'm gonna go out on the deck and put up the lights on the deck's hand rail. I don't have to wait for anyone, by golly! And I sure don't need to take on "someone's" lack of ability to finish something. Nurturing

MJ, thanks for the encouragement! Nurturing What was I thinking??? Nurturing

I am so glad that you found a way to get some lights up outside. Now you will have something pretty and festive to look at outside - and don't forget to give yourself credit for taking a situation you were unhappy with, and making it better. Nurturing
