Do you guys have trouble telling apart between:
-normal things that your head tells you that are offensive, because you are in a very bad mood, or just too sensitive due to previous trouble. For example, if you were mobbed, you'll find it annoying negative comments or not serious jokes, because you know that mobbing often begins like that. -real offenses, that anyone would find offensive. How do you deal with that? |

I struggle with this, I don't know if it's down to me interpreting incorrectly based on where my head is at the time, or if my brain is just getting it wrong, or if I'm actually reading it just right, it's a bit scarey as I can't trust my own thoughts at times, and I don't usually feel comfortable enough to ask that person how they mean something. Damn I hate brain sometimes, such a betrayer lol

Yes. You both completely know where are I am coming from. But I'd just say that's the feelings (not the thoughts) that's tricking me into the wrong direction. The feelings 'paint' everything in a different color.
Someone talking louder than normal could have a strong voice, be in a hurry, or be yelling at you. Someone answering 'no' could have a legitimate reason to that, or maybe just emotional reasons (and you are not entitle to a 'yes' anyway). I wish I could tell someone every detail about some incident and he would explain to me the gravity. Last edited by also_depr; Feb 23, 2013 at 09:53 PM. Reason: clarity |

Even someone nottalking to me at the moment can cause me to panic, feel threatened, feel doom, etc.
I think it's an instantaneous process of asking ourselves a question (what is happening) and providing the answer based on something besides reality - we answer based on history and on our strongest fears. I think it happens so fast we are completely unaware of it, yet it produces the reaction we have that seems to come from true feelings. It's late for me. I have no idea if that made sense. ![]() |
