I think we've all heard your opinion on the topic and it would be nice and interesting to see what other people's opinions are on it. Re-stating your opinion in a half dozen different ways doesn't make it any more (or less) valid, it just makes others feel like you're pushing an issue into their faces.

I'm replying to this statement here in the thread versus in a PM since it was posted in a thread, and I am following the model presented by the administrator. But aren't statements such as the above the type that are thought to be better handled in a PM versus made publicly? While I have no problem with someone giving another this kind of feedback, I wonder if it was really necessary to do so publicly.

Maybe, maybe not. I just see how many times a single member has responded in this thread versus all the other members combined and it leads to me think that member has an agenda (one, which they admit and own, which I respect). I feel it stifles open discussion when one member is seemingly (and I could be wrong) monopolizing the discussion with a reply to every poster.

i have an idea......... i have an idea.........

The only thing that keeps a thread going is those who choose to keep the arguement going. One person can't just post to themselves. There is so much desire to control others posting lately.. perhaps a another approach would just be to ignore what you don't like.

well, if there was ever a time when i wished that i was in the outer reaches of Mongolia, without a computer, this would be one of those times.

i thought it was a good idea, because i am personally tired of reading about something that references prayer, etc. in so many threads. YES, i believe in faith and am a moral person who treats people fairly and sees that their needs are taken care of, if i'm able to do so........so, let's nip that one in the bud.

however, i didn't intend to start a firestorm. and i didn't intend to see people get mad, get snippy and get rude and argumentative. that didn't occur to me. YES, that was stupid on my part, i see that now.

at first, i thought that one person was just interested in finding out how people really felt. after reading Doc John's response...i find that to probably not be entirely true. i encourage thinking and responding. that's how i learn things.

again, i give up. please close the thread. just don't offer to pray for me in any thread, unless i ask for it. and please don't tell me that your way of faith is the only way. AMEN........cordially and respectfully, notnearlyasnormalypatty

I haven't seen anywhere on PC that one faith was the only way,.. i have an idea.........

......IMHO with so many feelings surfacing with just discussing wanting a religion forum, can you imagine how it would be should there be such a forum... sees sparks flying big time...as always IMHO......

OMG... I think I just got it.. never did say I was smartest person in the world.. lol.........

I am thinking.. and as always is IMHO...................... the reason for having a religion forum was basically to keep all mention of prayers, God, or religious beliefs confined to one forum...So instead of sending prayers for someone in lets say in the social thread, only prayers could be mentioned and sent in the "religion room"... Kind of like taking the prayers out of the schools so the prayers won't offend those who do not believe.... So the whole idea was to confine religion talk to one place as to not offend folks... so if folks wanted to debate religious ideas in the religion forum, that too would be ok too. hmmmmmmmmm but as always IMHO.....

I still think a religion forum would be a big mistake... there are many places on line to get into religious debates... PalTalk is one place, you can sing, fight, debate pretty much anything ones lil heart desires....

Hi ((((Tomi my sweet i have an idea.........)))):

What you said here is the impression that I get about this site these days, (except maybe the dictatorship part, although... i have an idea......... i have an idea.........), which is kind of sad in a way, (but I don't want to run it, so i have an idea.........)...

"The thing is, this site is NOT a democracy and the majority of the members WANT it that way. If you like, call it a BENEVOLENT DICTATORSHIP, although that's pushing it a bit, because Doc John does listen to our wants and needs and if it's doable, he does it for us."

Special K has been refreshing, imo, whatever ones' opinion on the topic of religious/political discussion and a forum for same.

I wish more emphasis were put on learning conflict resolution skills (here on the site) than on limiting what folks can say, etc., but if wishes were ''something'' i have an idea........., (can't remember the quote, but you'll probably know it (((hugs)))).

XOXO (as ever i have an idea.........),

Jillers

P.S. I hate to see others openly ridiculed or patronized on the board, (this is a general statement; not you at all, ((Tomi)) = I just feel the 'safest' staying in a reply to you bc you know me and how I feel about you and others - my 'heart' if you will, so I don't fear that you will see my intention as bad), especially by administration. That is scary and off-putting, (the ridiculing/shutting someone down/intimidating/publically embarrassing, etc.).

I guess we'll see if I have developed a tougher skin i have an idea............

Edited to add text (P.S.).

There didn't seem to be much trouble in the "spritual forum" on Conquering Anxiety, did there? But then that was a teeny drop in the bucket compared to here. i have an idea.........

I agree with this statement, and have been trying to figure out the logistics of doing this. I am finishing up a certification program in Conflict Resolution and Mediation and learned some excellent skills that I'd like to pass along. It's a lot harder to put into practice with people I've known for a while, but the material itself is really interesting and I know that many here would enjoy reading it and discussing.

My time became very limited in the past few months, but it's on my list of things to do. I'm mostly trying to figure out a sustainable structure that works within our guidelines and doesn't require major time commitments on anyone's part.

Good to see you again ((( Peanut )))!!!
