I'll start at the beginning...I actually didn't start seeing a psychiatrist until about a year and a half ago - then SOLELY because a new primary care doctor was pushing it. Haven't really done much yet except allow hime to perscrib the same anti-anxiety medication I have been taking for years (but rises the dose) - tried a anti-depressant, and a few mood stabalizers - but stopped on my own advise after between 1 to 4 doses due to side effects. But I KNOW there have been issues since high school, if not before that.
Yap I guess I am starting to be o.k. with mentioning some things to this guy - but I look at more than trusting the doc too...Like if it's something that's not his discretion, it's off limits - example if you policy says if you mention feeling suicidal at all, it's automatic to call a hospital - than I refuse to be more than a clam about it no matter what.. Likewise - I have a huge issue with loosing any privacy in any situation for any reason - and I was not happy with my insurance company have more than the fact I showed up at a doctors office and was prescribed medication (I really would rather they not know what that doctors specialty is, or the exact name of the medication prescribed, or even what type of medication it was). But now with this damn "Manged Care", now they want not just DXes, but details on the sessions! Well - if they are not going to be 100% confidential, any 0 way (even court order) to get that info - than I would rather NOT deal with the issues - because I do not want any record of it that can be seen under any condition - and that includes a background check to buy a firearm - if it would would show then - I want to just leave it be - not fun - but if I can have the treatment, AND 100% privacy, than privacy is going to win as far as what is more important to me. |

I agree privacy is important, but if I really need treatment, then I'm not going to forego it or forgo telling my docs my symptoms in general. However, I have wondered why my orthopedist needs to know that I have a mental illness......

Also if getting treat MIGHT mean being scrutinized any closer later for any reason, when attempting to do anything, not interested.... As stated before, if even buying a gun, they would see anything after getting they treatment, that wouldn't be there if you ignored it - then I will opt to ignore.... Note - not looking to get a pilots licenses right now - but because the FAA dose not like it - I am looking for a way to remove vertigo from my record to, and had I known that then, I would have clammed up about being dizzy and vomiting....I might be o.k. with changing that to something like "occasional dizziness" because that I can tell, something like that won't stop you from doing anything - but vertigo can, and dose - not because it litteral prevents you from doing it physically, but because others panic. |
