I don't really like it...sorry but mental illness isn't just a fun 'in' trend, its reallly difficult for the people that have it and there actually is a lot of stigma so its not as though everyone will be 'sympathetic' about the topic. But perhaps I take some things too seriously I just find the first bit horrendously inaccurate and that list doesn't even make sense really.

that's the wole point of the article to show that a mental illness is not fun (and games) and out of those 11 things I'm sure most people here can relate to something

like number 11 says .... it helps to laugh if you're suffering and a sense of humor can be good . don't take life so serious bc nobody gets out alive like the old saying

That was hilarious. I love satire, but I can't help but question if some of the points are a tad too accurate about how some people act. Sad, humourous, and thoroughly entertaining.

great guest comment left last week...

”I found this article to be quite hilarious. As someone with bi-polar disorder and anxiety problems it was nice to laugh and relate to something I experience everyday. I don't really understand how people were offended. Yes the intro was misleading but after reading the article I interpreted it as being sarcastic. To me this article read as "hey if you think having a mental illnesses is cool this is what we go through every day." And the author stated he has a mental illnes calm down.”
Thanks for this!

I liked the article and on some days I think I could show it to my husband. But not tonight. I think he really feels like that tonight.

I, too, felt like he was making fun of the mentally ill, but at the same time, I do have a sense of humor, even about mental illness sometimes. Without knowing his intent, I can't really judge him for writing it. It doesn't really bother me, and he certainly has the freedom to write such a thing, so I'm not making a big deal out of it either way.

I honestly didn't even finish the article or essay because I didn't like it! It was way to general and it did make our diagnosis and disorders come into a new light that isn't what I wanted to read about! A little to trendy for me, like there is just so many things that are out there to make our disorders convenient that they have a dim light that shines bright in the face of these outlets!! Whatever though

do what?

the author suffers from mental illness himself. he's pretty much describing himself. he's showing those that think it's cool or fun just how uncool and not so fun it really is by addressing it in 1-10.

11 means right back at the stupid media

I really liked the article and found it funny, however I never realized just how casually the word "bipolar" was used by others until I was correctly diagnosed very late in 2007 after many years of suffering. I do think "trends" have something to do with it. The saying "he's nuts!" has been replaced by "he's bipolar! I think the only answer is education and even then there will probably always be a stigma attached.

I love it -- thanks for posting clash! And don't worry about the negative reception you get about posting it. Some of the funniest gems are the controversial ones.
