I guess I need to know how anyone gets to be able to do things. I find I do not want to do anything. I dont know how to get out of that. I have a dog I just take him outside and place him on a 15 foot cable and he goes to the bathroom. I'm outside with him for that. I have a guiter and wanted to learn to play notes I just dont seem to have any. I go to see my pdoc tomorrow.

Similar thing is going on with me right now, since I burdened myself with electing myself to care for her.
The draining effect has robbed me of motivation, I must of caught it from her, all she does is eat and then sleep, not even washes herself for days. motivation
What gets me frazzled with my lack of motivation, is I had started with so many plans to do things in my house, yard and even community, but now I barely have anymore oomph!
My pdoc attributes the emotional stress to be the draining force of any motivation I had.
Whatever, I went through this a few years ago, way before I brought my mom up from FL after dad passed away, so I couldn't tag this on her. It just really sucks when motivation get sucks from us.
I hope you get some little spark of motivation, I have found it can jumpstart things, not always but whatever we can gain from a little spark is better than nothing I guess, eh?
Lots of luck with this. Anyone else have any ideas or suggestions towards gaining motivation? Please add to this thread.

Hi Ster:

I agree that prolonged stress and depression are big zappers of energy and motivation.

It's great that you get outside with your dog. Sunshine is helpful as is exercise.

Actually TAKING the dog for a walk helps tremendously! I can't walk my dog because I'm in a wheel chair but just riding up and down my neighborhood helps. You start to make aquaintances, too, and that helps even more.

Exercise gets the juices flowing even if it's just a slow walk. motivation

Roe, it sounds like you're letting your mother's attitude infect you. Don't let that happen! Do something for yourself once you're done for the day that makes you feel good then start thinking possitive thoughts. The next day, when you arrive at her house, right away "Up and at'em! In the shower, Ma'am!" and don't listen to her why nots. If you can, turn on some upbeat music and just change the whole environment of depression. YOU take control. Don't let her do it. You won't last long at this rate, Sweety.
