We have just experienced a couple of severe storms and flooding.
It started on Wednesday and is slowly trying to clear up now. My little house has received a fair amount of water damage as my lounge started to flood yesterday. I am luckier than most that had to be evacuated and their homes destroyed. So I am truly grateful for that. We have spent the better part of 2 days and nights without power, but fortunately, this was recently restored. Tragically, a few lives have been lost and many injured. This kind of weather is completely uncharacteristic for where I live so it has shocked us all. Anyway, I am safe and well. This rain is still pouring down intermittently but hopefully the worst of the flooding is over.

Oh, this is horrible! So sorry about you and your family having to deal with this! I also feel for those who've lost their home or even a family member.
The weather is sure turning strange all over the world! I hope it soon will stop raining. (((((((((((( Sabrina ))))))))))))))) ![]() |

Thank you so much to everyone for your kind words and support.
I am alone at home and feeling quite terrified. It is still raining though not with the force that caused yesterday's deluge. I guess I am just feeling the after-effects of something I have never been through before. Once again - thank you to all!

OMG, how scary, I'm glad you and your family are safe. Property damage is nothing compared to your safety I agree. I hope the rain ceased and you can get everything back to normal. I'm very relieved that all was safe and you didn't have to leave your home.

Thank you so much Mel.
I guess I am being a bit of a whine-pot ... but I couldn't come here the last few days with the power outage and all I could think of ... was my friends at PC. I am feeling very alone and terrified tonight. But I know it will pass. Or at least I HOPE it wil!

I know I will Nina - thank you!
Feel kinda silly, though my situation is critical, it is not what most go through (hurricane, tornado etc). I almost feel as though I was cyring wolf. But back to my original post ... it wasn't like that! Guess I am just needing support right now. Thank you all! Thank you Nina!!!!

The water is ankle deep in my garden after receding over night. My little herb garden and flower beds are gone ... I will have to start over. But that is nothing compared to what others have lost.
One good thing has come out of this though, and that is that our water restrictions are surely to be lifted soon. I think all 3 dams that provide water to our city are now overflowing where last week they were only sitting at 36 % capacity. So we can probably say we are no longer in a drought. I can finally stop catching my shower water in a bucket to flush the toilet. I am extraordinarily grateful for a warm bed and a fairly sturdy roof over my head when I realise the extent of what happened. Today: ........... It was a beautiful sunny day today and I finally had the courage to go out. The devastation around the city is shocking and will run into millions. One of the roads that collapsed and disintergrated is one that my family use every single day! So I am grateful (a paradox for sure), that this happened during the night and early hours of the morning. Today's sun hasn't done much to dry out the carpets but all in time! I have my home and family - and that is all that matters. I have unearthed and donated blankets and woolies, and on Monday I will be sending food to designated areas. I still feel shocked and scared!
