Please keep the people in these states in your prayers. 15 have been killed here and there are also two young men who's bodies haven't been found. Their Jeep Cherokee was found and it was completely smashed down like they do in the salvage yards.
Over 1000 homes destroyed or made unlivable and so many businesses are completely gone. Right now the Hill Country is in the worst shape, but downstream, on Colorado River, is hurting also. Bastrop got 5 inches of rain and the river went over flood stage by one foot. One foot might not sound like much, but on level ground it is. Flash flooding is everywhere and people still drive off into blocked areas and drown. The slogan is "turn around, don't drown".......6 inches of rushing water will float a small car. Oklahoma and Kansas are hurting also and all of the creeks and rivers, at our ranch, are out of their banks and have been for at least 10 days. Prayers and positive vibes would be much appreciated by all of these people. Please hold them in your hearts.........xoxoxo pat |

I was wondering how things are in Texas. Bastrop is near Austin, right? Slightly south?

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Know how very hard this whole thing is too. My SE corner of KS has been declared a disaster area by the President and FEMA has arrived finally. My parents, brother & family, aunt & uncle and 2 cousins & their families alsong with many hundreds of other people I know from living in these 2 small towns all my life have lost everything they own. Just thursday they found the first body in a motel room when the flood waters started receding enough for rescurers to get in places that they had not been able to. The rescue workers themselves are now getting sick from the contaminated flood waters as we've also had to contend with a 42,000 + gallons leak from the refinery that flooded in a nearby town and has contaminated everything. It is the worst flooding in Kansas in the history books in some of these small towns. My parents had lived in their house 32 yrs and never had water in it and they day they lost everything happened to be their 46th wedding anniversary. I don't have a very good relationship with my mom for obvious reasons that many of you know but I would never, ever want anything to happen like this to anybody. Sorry Pat, I feel like I hijacked your thread and I apologize. I hope you get a break in the weather and start drying out and I hope we get and keep our water supply on.
