Hi al,
Im new on here, quick question I recently got referred to my local mental health clinic for an assessment from a nurse. She said I was showing signs of hypomania and dpression also, my question is I had a phone call saying they would send me a mood diary out to fill in, then had another call of a lady who I have been given as a care coordinator?!? She said I have to go for an app to see some doctor for a diagnosis and treatment as I should be taking medicine?!? I have no idea what on earth is happening . I know that sound strange, but why have I been given a care coordinator bfore a diagnosis? Also she said to me as I had forgotten something she had just told me she said' because of your illness' What illness? They hvnt told me anything yet ?!? Im confused ha Anyone any ideas pleae would be much appreciated ![]() |

Evidently they are referring to your hypomania and depression. It might sound like they are getting the cart before the horse, but I assume this coordinator is being assigned to you to help support you as you get treatment. I know all of this stuff must be a surprise to you, understandably, but it sounds like it will be a good deal for you. It's possible they didn't get their ducks in a row in their planning before calling you. So, each might have assumed someone else told you what they were going to do.
The nurses can't prescribe medications, but doctors can. Your symptoms do indicate an illness called bipolar disorder, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's what your diagnosis will be. I have that, too. I was diagnosed 13 years ago, to my surprise. I take medications for it, and almost all folks with it at least take some medication. You might also be given a therapist. I definitely like seeing one. ![]() |
