My psych eval results are in. Does anyone know what "paroxysmal paranoid tendencies" means? Google hasn't been much help. Thanks.

The last two days have been horrible, and now this thing on top of it. I don't even know what those words are supposed to mean together, and I can't meet up with my new T to discuss them until Wed.

paroxysmal paranoid tendencies means you are having paranoid symptoms. the paranoid symptoms come along with sudden outbursts of emotions. the emotions can range from sudden outbursts of laughter and on through the scale of emotions to extreme rage...

example.....

that person is out to get me, how dare they do this to me, (possibly getting so worked up that the person explodes into destroying, punching, hitting kicking what ever they do in extreme rage behaviors)

another example using the same situation...

that person is out to get me smiling, laughing and uncontrollable giggles/laughter.

Another example using the same paranoid symptom.....

that person is out to get me...sadness, depression and extreme depression, suicidal thoughts/actions...

these are just examples mind you. it can be any paranoid symptom accompanied by any sudden outburst of extreme emotion.that increases with intensity.

Hello ~ Well, paroxysm means "a sudden attack, or intensification of the symptoms of a disease, usually recurring periodically." So this would mean that you do have paranoia, and the symptoms come on suddenly, every now and then. Does that help?

I hope your therapist can give you a better idea about it, as I may be a bit wrong about it. Hopefully he can clear it up much better than I can. Don't be afraid to ask him questions -- write down anything you don't understand so when you see him you won't forget what you wanted to ask him. I usually forget everything I wanted to ask. LOL

Best of luck on your visit with your therapist, and keep us posted, ok? God bless and hope we hear more from you. Hugs, Lee
