I'm starting to feel liike maybe I am just faking it
or acting like a baby, or being lazy; maybe it has been just my hormones this whole time.

You are not the only one. Sometimes I feel like I should grow up and just stop acting the way I do.

Wouldn't you know if you were faking it or not? It's a pretty elaborate fake if it's a fake (so you'd be very clever/talented to pull it off so well?). And what's the point of feeling so bad? What would you gain by faking it? I'll talk to you and like you anyway, whether you are faking it or not

Consider seeing a therapist or life coach.

Sounds like me when I'm depressed. I can be suicidal and still feel like I'm acting and fooling the world (and myself). I think my counsellor's tired of hearing me blame myself and say I'm fine. I can't help it.

I've felt like I'm faking it sometimes. It's a very crappy feeling to feel like that. I think it's not an uncommon feeling. I think a lot of people who feel like they're faking it, are not faking it.

I have the same exact thoughts sometimes! Despite my pain-staking measures to try and bury my symptoms six feet under and pretend I'm fine, I constantly question if I'm actually "unwell" or not. What if the past seven or so years was just the result of out-of-whack puberty hormones? What if it's all a desperate and elaborate ploy by my inner subconscious to try and be "special" and get attention? What if I'm just a wimpy faker? And then inevitably I end up doing something stupid and then coming out of it and thinking "Oh...yeah. That wasn't my proudest moment. I think something might be wrong with me, maybe."
You're not alone. ![]()

theres only two people in this world that can tell you what is going on with you and whether these issues apply to you and why....those people are you and your treatment providers. my suggestion if this continues to bother you contact your treatment providers, they can do tests and talk with you, help you discover whether you are faking, acting like a baby, lazy, your hormones or any mental or physical health problem. |

I feel like that sometimes too.
Sometimes I can't tell the difference. There's so much information out there to support that certain forms of mental illness can be counteracted by 'positive thinking' and other types of cognitive resistance or retraining. I start to think I'm doing something wrong, or maybe there's nothing wrong with me after all and I'm just buying into a lie. But then on the other hand I know how hard I struggle and how hard I've worked to get better, and how despite all these things I still go to scary places at times that are not brought on by 'negative thinking'. So most the time, I just end up confused.
