I am sure you aren't alone. I don't know much about it personally, but I would surely think someone does. So, hang on and we'll see what other folks might have to say.

no you are not alone. I dont have it myself at this moment..but just a little tip try posting that question in other boards too (if thats allowed) because here where I am located in NY, USA conversion disorder can be caused by many mental disorder symptoms being converted into physical problems. for example when I am depressed or going through my depression phase with my bipolar I end up with many physical problems too that my treatment providers call conversion disorder type symptoms.

also you might want to try and place in the post what kinds of problems conversion disorder gives you, other countries call this disorder by other names such as a member in the dissociative boards let us all know their conversion symptoms that match with the USA conversion disorder are called dissociative motor disorder in the UK.

so take your time and let people know what you are looking for. theres bound to be someone that can relate to you / your symptoms.

It must be a shock if you have just been diagnosed with it, I don't have it myself but it sounds like quite a big thing to deal with and I hope that you find support here.

(((Tonker)))

You aren't alone, as Perna's link explains.

I do have epilepsy, and have met many people online (http://www.e.com) who have struggled to get their sz's diagnosed and treated. It isn't fun or easy... I know. But there are a lot of people who can relate. Just meeting up with others who can relate brings a lot of relief.

Gentle hugs to you...

Hi, I'm new here. I have conversion disorder. Well, had...or have...I don't know if it really ever officially goes away because I still feal it sometimes. My conversion disorder presented itself in a manner that most people assumed that I had tourettes or epilepsy.
I ask the same question everyday, "am I alone?" and thats why I'm here.

I've had some experience with it myself. I have numbness in my extremities, including my face, and weakness in my arms and legs if I'm under very much stress.

No, you're not alone.

The biggest challenge for me is when I have other medical issues (I am diabetic, and therefore neuropathy is a possibility) but I'm not taken seriously because people assume that because of conversion disorder it's "all in my head."

Wait, I have had numbness and tingling in my hands and feet that comes and goes and even my face and been tested for MS (neg)...those are signs of something called a conversion disorder???

It's a possibility, but numerous other things could also be the reason, and of course I'm not qualified to make a diagnosis. Even if I were, I couldn't do it online. Here is some information on conversion disorder, if you're interested.

For the record, some could say conversion disorder is "all in your head," but that's not the same thing as "it isn't real," or "you're faking it." In fact, deliberately faking it has to be ruled out before they can even say it's conversion disorder.
