Today was my surgery......

I had three (actually four, two were so close together that we thought it was one) cysts removed from my scalp.... They are oil glands that get plugged and keep filling up..... Poor hubby was all a mess, he just didnt understand that these bumps were only under my skin and not actually on my brain, so he was a nervous wreck..... But I guess that is expected as he lost his dad this past Sept to brain cancer.....

I was awake for the procedure, which wasn't as bad as I thought, but still wouldn't want to do it again.... The doctor and nurse kept me talking which helped... It took an hour to do....

Now here comes the sucky part... My hair is matted with dried blood and iodine.... I CANNOT get my hair wet for the next 48 hrs! I CANNOT shampoo my hair for the next 5 days!!!!! When I do get it wet, I have to use peroxide, now I just colored my hair, intense deep red of course..... So can you imagine what that will do to my color?!?!? AND, I have three bald spots where they shaved my head..... They are each about the size of a 1/4 of a sandwich.... So how attractive is this?!?! LOLOLOL.... My kids think its cool!!

The stitches dont come out intil the 17 th! I am seriously considering just shaving all my hair off and just wear a hat, turban, or scarf until it grows out..... We will see....

I am sore, they burn and sting and keep bleeding... Everytime I make a facial expression or laugh they pull and leak.... EWWWWWWW! I know!!

But I am well.... My surgery....) not sure how much I will be online... but just wanted everyone to know I am doing well.....

I'm glad you're better, and I'm really glad that the surgery went well. Take care of yourself, and come back when you can. You're in my thoughts and take your time with recuperation and all that (I've had one too many surgeries in my life ... so I can say that taking some time off is the best thing ever!)

Thank you Canders My surgery....

I took a week off from work, and I am glad I did! I know most of my concerns are about vanity, I am thankful that this surgery wasnt for anything serious....

I will take time to allow them to heal though and not fool myslef on what my limits are.... One of my best friends came over to keep me company while hubby did errands, he came home and found us both napping in my bed, LOL..... I am blessed to have a great support system in all areas of my live....

Hi SW,

A nice straw hat sounds like the right solution to me.

Gee, they always tell you all this other stuff, AFTER they do the surgery.

I'm having to go for PT for my foot after having surgery on it at the beginning of July. Did they tell me I might have to go to PT after this surgery? NO!!!

With prayers for healing,

EJ

Thanks for sharing the oogy details. LOL! My mom had cysts removed from her head years ago while I was still in school (somewhere between 8th grade and high school). She was supposed to wait for my dad to come pick me up at school and then we were going to the hospital to pick up my mom, but she wasn't there. She started walking home (!!!), figuring my dad would pick her up on the way. But we had no way of knowing she'd left, and she got all the way home. The hospital was about 2-3 miles from our house. She did this after just having had surgery!!! My dad was mad!

I'm so glad all went well, but it's bad about your hair.

Shaving it might be a good option, or get it cut really short. Hats are way cool!

I hope your recovery is speedy and pain free.

Hugs,

Jan

I hope you get to feeling better soon! I'm glad you got your problem taken care of, and I don't think you're being vain at all! It would drive me NUTS not to be able to wash my hair for 5 days!!

It's good that you have a good support system nearby. I had elbow surgery in Nov. and was living alone at the time -- it really made things a LOT harder!

Take care and check in when you can, to let us know how things are going!

Candy

I'm thinking... bandanas???? I would definitely get the advice of a hair stylist... they might be able to do something with hiding if the hair is longer? What about waterless hair cleaner? I know my sister used this when she was a Pam Am stewardess... the hairdresser should know and be able to help there too??

Glad it was all ok, in general. TC

I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery and your new hairdo. Maybe you can start a new style? Or cut some interesting shapes in your haid and dye all your hair purple! Now who doesn't want purple hair?

All the best for your recovery...

Thank you all for the well wishes My surgery.... I really appreciate the extra love My surgery....

I am doing great as far as my recovery from surgery.... I had the stitches out last week and that was just awful!! But all is good, they were just regular cysts.... as far as my hair, well I decided to buzz it all off.... I actually have had many many compliments ..... I figure it is just hair and if that is the worst thing that I really have to complain about than I am good.... could have been a lot worse.... hair grows back.....

Again THANK YOU for the well wishes, I truly appreciate it! My surgery.... My surgery.... My surgery....
