Well, I had another appt. today with the surgeon who misaligned the screw in my back. It finally dawned on him that after 7 months, something was wrong since I haven't gotten better just worse.

Then he tells me that he's going to take out the screw.....ewwwwwww. Wants to do it in 2 weeks - I politely declined that time frame (issues at work and I can't be away from there right now) and said that after April 3rd would be fine.

His first available surgical opening is the the 20th of April.......so, I will be held over night barring any extra problems (who me????? lol) and then I have to stay home for a week to recover. I talked to my supervisor and am taking that week as part of my vacation time.

Now I just stress out over memories of last Aug.......when I sat straight up because I couldn't breathe and had an allergic reaction to something - and how upset Alex was.

One side of this life's scale is definitely outweighing the other one.

Mary Alice

Plus those two at work got a slap on the wrist, a talking to.......and that's it. And I was told that being a team player means getting along with everyone. So, I'm shutting up till I find a different job - and I am definitely looking.

{{{{{Planning}}}}}

I don't know much about the type of surgery you are having but hopefully after April things will finally be better. It must be so frustrating to have it go on so long but if it works out better afterward and you have some relief then you can put this all behind you hopefully.

sorry the situation at work is so stressfull also, that can't be helping. hope you can find something new and get outta there. new job will be bigger and better.

good luck

I have been trying to think of what to say and I just can't think of anything that is adequate. I just hope that this time it helps and you feel better. Be good to yourself. And thank-you for the hugs and support that you have given to me.

Love Always,
Wendy

Hi Dave,

This will be my 4th time in surgery........S1 thru L5 has been fused in my back (spine). I have a great deal of titanium back there.........rods, screws, cages. The last time left my leg completely numb and if I don't take the Neurontin, I am not able to walk.

Work is getting worse. Tired of not having my own store and running it properly.......what an ego, huh? lol.

Thanks for caring.

Mary Alice, my beloved friend...

I share your trepidation (sp?) over anything back related. Along with the cronic pain I have now, I've already had a double fusion done. You have my sympathy, empathy, and shoulder to lay your head on. But, once the screw is in there right and you have time to heal, you will feel better for it, both mentally and physically.

It might be helpful to get Alex as involved in your recovery as you can (I'm assuming he's still pretty young, I apologize for not knowing). Let him get your robe and slippers, get you drinks, help bring your lunches and dinners, etc. This can help our kids feel better about us being in pain. I know it worked with my son after my back surgery. Just an idea.

You know that you have us behind you 110% Mary Alice (have I mentioned that my wife's name is Mary Ellen?). Everything is going to be just fine. I believe that eventually good things happen to good people, and you are good people.

Much love to you,
Greg

Awww hun I am sorry you are having to go through this but stay positive about it! Think of how much better you will feel when it is over right? All of the pain you are having will be reduced and that will I am sure have a better effect on your overall being.

Now take that advice you gave me on taking special care of yourself ......you are such a special person and I am so glad you are my friend as well as sister More Surgery.

Greg you are such a sweet person.......as I get to know you more, I realize how fortunate we are to have here, me in particular.

He isn't going to realign the screw, he is going to take it out completely and leave it out. That worries me considerably. Alex is 8 years old btw - you can't keep track of everything on here.......lol

It isn't until April but now the brain is just remembering it all over again. If removing the screw doesn't work, then there will probably be more surgery later on - I don't know how much more of that I can tolerate.

Do you have a clone that you can ship to me to tell me such nice compliments all the time? lol. It would do wonders for my sagging self-esteem. More Surgery

how are YOU feeling lately? Already busy on the computer being helpful...........I'm glad you stay so upbeat about things.

This is kind of a hit and miss type of surgery.......he's hoping that removing the screw will help but after 7 months of it hurting the nerves in my leg, we'll see what happens. Feels like I'm being dismantled.......lol.

The scene, a real-life conversation between Mary Alice and Greg’s clone, Horatio. Horatio says to Mary Alice, “Mary Alice, may I say that you are particularly wonderful today?”. Mary Alice retorts, “Why yes you may Horatio, But I must say that it is YOU who are the wonderful one!”. Horatio, now blushing, answers, “But Mary Alice, your wonderfulness is known worldwide, on every continent. It is exceeded only by your beauty!”. Mary Alice responds, “Well Horatio, knowing the truth when I hear it, I can only say one thing. Thank you.”

I was thinking of sending you my twin, Gerg. But, he’s a rather nasty little fellow, mean spirited, bizarre sense of humor. We only let him out for dinner at the in-laws…

Mary Alice, you deserve all the compliments you get. As I told someone very recently, we are our own worst critics, and we always tend to see the worst in ourselves even when those around us don’t. But I’ve been trying to cut myself some slack and allow myself to feel good when I do good things. It’s not a bad feeling dear. Maybe we can help each other work on this?

Lots of love and tons of hugs,
Greg

Hey, Horatio! I think it's great that you care for Mary Alice the way you do, but... you best be taking it easy on Greg. He's not mean or nasty and his sense of humor is wonderful. I happen to care a whole lot for him, so be nice, ok?

More Surgery Greg, you're just too sweet! (sigh!)

Yes, I am my own worst critic and my standards for my actions/behaviors is unattainable (or so I've been told). I happen not to agree, but...........oh, well.

Your wife is lucky............[sigh]. Is Horatio married? If not, he's mine. lol.

Hold on, Mary Alice, I want to run away to California with you! I'll bring chocolate, if I can mangage not to eat it all before we get there.

Me too. But the thing I was worried about today is over and was not what I was afraid of, so I guess I don't have to run away now. In your case, leaving is probably a good plan, so long as you are able to take Alex with you.
