I am very forgetful. I have tons of to do lists all over the place, I write them, forget where I put them or just lose them all together, then make a new one.

I also forget things I wanted to do, like walk into one room of the house and just stand there like, huh???

I have always forgotten things here and there, but since last year and the cancer (gone now thankfully since Oct). It has gotten WAY worse and just is not getting any better. I have BPD abnd BiPolar II along with generaly anxiety issues.

Anything sound familiar? Is this just all me? It is a few days til dr appt so I won't know anything from them until next week. Just wondering, thanks.

My partner has a similar diagnosis and similar symptoms. She too is frustrated by her lack of ability to remember things, misplacing things, etc. So no, you're not alone. It's actually quite common.

I have that problem every day due to my physical (brain) disability, especially when I have an issue bugging me. When an emotional problem haunts me the forgetfulness becomes significantly amplified & stresses me out.

Yes, I do have emotional illnesses as well though.

I don't have those DXes, but I do have something that can effect memory, especially short term - it's called Menieres syndrome. Guess what - that sword is double edged - Menieres is known to cause short term memory loss (not technically a symptom, but talk to anyone that has it....), HOWEVER so do the drugs used to control it (some are also used for what you mentioned) - I actually remember details of days 25-30 years ago, better than what happened yesterday, or even just a few hours ago.
I misplaced my glasses about two weeks ago, still no idea, other than they are in the house somewhere - I posted a message here early in the morning, used them (prescription for reading), whent back to sleep for a few hours, and never saw them again....All I can say is thank God for a magnifier program.

I see by your profile you are a cancer survivor...some cancer fighting medications/chemo do cause a lingering memory problem...

I also see in your profile (and in this post) you have bipolar II, borderline personality disorder and anxiety problems ...all of which sometimes can share the same symptom of having memory problems...

there are also many mental and medical issues that can cause a person to have memory problems...so many in fact that if you google memory problems you will get millions of results of what this can be...

no you are not alone, i have memory problems due to stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, not eating right at times, not getting enough sleep and many other reasons...

my opinion its best to talk with your treatment providers. they can tell you whether its a lingering symptom from your cancer, or your mental problems or something completely different..

Sometimes I think my brain is toast. My memory is horrible and sometimes I think my meds cause it. I carry post it notes in my pocket to write on if I am given a verbal list of things to do.

I would forget my own head if it weren't attached. My kids are really getting tired of me forgetting their names.

My girls are pretty good with my difficulty, for the most part. Sometimes they get frustrated, but not too often, thankfully! However, they are still only 10 and 8 y.o. So, we'll see!
