I agree with bluewings. I can't stand "just get over it". Really, if it was that simple, none of us would be posting here.

"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"

I have to call BS on that one, I think I'd be stronger if my self confidence wasn't destroyed/never allowed to develop and if I didn't have anxiety issues.

Do you guys have anything to add to this list? Things that you are just tired of hearing? Let's all be a little cynical right now.

yes, and also referring to the docs as the providers???? Hate that, myself.

I have really enjoyed the thread, embarassed that I've actually said a few, and I do mean just a few of these myself, and hate most of them listed by you all. Nice to vent and to smile over this stuff, too. Thanks, all

"Just give it to God." (you try to, if only it were that easy)

"You lived through it then, you'll live through it now" (when you dissociate from it then, it is like going through it for the first time)

"It was just a dream, dreams are not real" (no, but what the dream was about was something that was real)

"I'm sorry" (it just feels like oh,....just something to say)

"Just get over it, it is the past."

"It is not happening now"

Personally I call Pdoc's pushers since that is all they do anymore, push drugs. Listen, nope, the side effects were just all in my mind.

I'm a patient not a consumer. That means I expect to be treated the same as any patent with an illness, not patronized or talked to as if everything I say is suspect, when I say something physical is wrong they had better take it seriously and find out the cause! I'm not willing to end up in the ER or ICU anymore because they assume it's all in my mind!

If I'm a consumer then what happened to the phrase; the costumer is always right??

"Take a walk, you will feel better"
while it may help if you are a bit out of sorts.... when things are full blown out of grip with reality way.. walking doesn't do a darn thing.

i am really fed up hearing 'take your time, don't rush' i have no choice but take my time, if i don't i mess thing up or crash my scoot or fall off my chair and set my asthma off!

the other is 'you are looking well' it seems whenever i am feeling awful or exhausted people seem to think i look well yet when i feel ok no one says a thing!

in England we are referred to as service users or just users, i am not a user, i paid more in taxes than i will ever get back!

you're not trying hard enough... if you just tried harder...
smile!
stop obsessing/don't think about it
just be positive
it's all in your head
just don't do it
don't let her get to you
you are an adult and in control
don't get lost in the emotion
