... to get out of bed in the morning? or
...to go to work each day? or
...just to keep going on?

I know that for some people it's dedication to someone/something, for others it's hope for better days and yet for others its doing something they love.
Psychologist Mihaly Czikszentmihalyi talks about what makes life worth living. He describes the secret ingredient of happiness as being 'in flow'. According to his theory, being in flow has seven key aspects. (they are presented around the 14 minute mark)
1. being involved in what we do
2. having a sense of ecstasy
3. inner clarity
4. knowing that what we are trying to do is doable
5. having a sense of serenity
6. timelessness
7. intrinsic motivation

Great topic. I think for me it's just wanting to see what happens. I have no guarantees that it will be a good day. I have no guarantees that I will ever see good days again. But I've had some interesting times. And I enjoy my spiritual connection with life and the universe. And I can't experience it if I don't keep going. Plus I have people in my life that I love and who love me - a must. And I try to eat food I enjoy, go places I enjoy, align my actions with my beliefs and values. Not always easy with mental illness. But when I'm able these are the things I do.

I love my life. I love my job. I love being a blessing to other people throughout the day. I make a difference in children's lives. My life can be extremely hard but its also a learning experience. Thats what gets me out of bed every day

I don't have a motive. I wake up because I'd get kicked out of bed anyway. Otherwise, I'd rather sleep until death.

wow....that is a big list to live up to. I was miserable for so long and now I am not. I have made it a mission to find joy. I haven't yet, but I am ok living now. I hope to find joy and cant wait for it to happen. one day it will. so I wake up for that day.

I don't think I have a motive. I think that I just get out whenever i feel like I need to. I don't really know why. When I'm aimless, I just sleep for a while and tehn wake up at 9 at the latest.

what motivates me to keep going on is that there's work that needs to be done.

Bills needed to get paid when my father and I lived together. Now that I do not have that concern it might be about time to move on.
