Help Psych Central help others by taking a few minutes to rate and review any medications you're on or any medications you've been on in the past:

http://psychcentral.com/reviews/show...rt=8&cat=1

We're mostly interested in psychiatric medications. So please, if you're on anything right now, take a few minutes to put in your two cents on the medication! Your reviews and ratings help others make decisions about their own care and treatment. Be honest and only rate medications that you personally have had experience with.

As an added incentive, all reviews put into the system before Monday, Sept. 18, 2006 will be considered for a new contest. Two reviewers will be randomly selected from all reviews in the system on that date to receive a $25 Amazon.com gift certificate. Void where prohibited.

Thanks!
DocJohn

OMG. I can't belive how it's grown over there!

I'm so glad we have that now. It's good to know that I can see that others have the same difficulties (or good results) I did with meds. It's also great to know that I can check in there if meds are something of the future for me as well.

Thank you so much DocJohn. I always get concerned with even trying a new antibiotic, and that's great to know that information from people is out there at my fingertips about psych meds...from people who aren't on a paid advertisement, etc...real time. Rate and Review Medications Contest!

Good feedback! Thank you! I thought it was great too, and hope to see more meds on there.

It was completely amazing to me when I looked back at all the meds that have been tried on me. I had listed every med that had been tried on me & the reactions I had to them.....it was a total of 36 on your list. I also had 6 others beyond the ones that are listed. The other 6 are Librium, Tranzene, Parnate, Ludiomil, Neurontin, & Vivactil. On top of that, I was tried on many of the natural options & other treatments besides medication.

It is scarry looking at that I realizing what a psych med guinea pig I have been. The really scarry part was that none of the meds ever worked on me either & the effects were very similar on most of them except for some very serious side effects I came up with.

I never want to go back to being a guinea pig like that again. Of course, there aren't that many meds left to be tried besides the ones that have already been tried on me.

It was really enlightening looking back on my past. Has anyone else gone through the same horrible experiences as I have?

Debbie

I went ahead and added Geodon and Remeron, since they are psych meds. Zyban and propranolol will have to be approved by Doc John, since they are for non-psych conditions. Books and music are outside the scope of this particular project.

just my 2 pence worth

it would be nice to have the generic names of the medications added has well has the commercial names, for example chlorpromazine is called largatil, diazepam is valium ect, and without going threw a medical dictionary online it would be hard if not impossible to find your medication to review if say you were in the uk like me and not in the us where the same drugs are called differant names here.

the other 8 pence was for free

Didn't know if you plan to add these but Neurontin and Ambein...also Lunestra are often taken by those of us with MI.

Thanks candybear. It didn't look like people were interested in adding books or music. I think the book category is really needed. The music category is just fun.

I would add a book called SECRET SURVIVORS: Uncovering Incest and Its Aftereffects in Women (by E. Sue Blume). I'm sure I could find other psych books to add too. Rate and Review Medications Contest!

Let me clarify, now that *I'm* clear Rate and Review Medications Contest! -- anybody can add any med to review, it's just that the medical information might not be there till I can remember where it came from Rate and Review Medications Contest!. In going through and putting generic names to all the meds, I noticed some reviews of birth control, for example. So if you'd like to add Zyban or whatever, go ahead and do a review.

Maybe we can start a separate section for review of psych-related books, which actually would be kind of fun! Rate and Review Medications Contest!

I think the "Add" option was removed. I haven't seen this option available for over a week.

Are we interested in herbals? I found Valerian, but couldn't find St. John's Wort. How about Chamomile, Kava, ...

Oh my... that's short time for me to find my long list of side effects... I know plenty that nearly killed me (rozerem and cymbalta come to mind)...

but I tried cymbalta for pain management, before the off label for ???

Ok..I'll try to get this done.

Sorry, the add option being removed was a glitch. You should see it back now!

I must be missing something, but I still don't see the "add" option. I know that several of the ones that I wasn't able to review were ones I had horrible reactions to. In my last post here, I listed the 6 meds I was given as AD's that aren't listed here. I have had horrible reactions to many other meds that aren't AD's like benedryl, floridil, & even antibiotics.....but I know that we are focusing on the AD's here......

How do I add the ones that aren't listed? I must be missing something if it should be back on now?????
