I just came from the hospital where he is. He came through his surgery fine. They took out about 8 inches of his colon and put it back together again. He is hurting really bad today and I told him not to push it. He is getting up and walking which is good and when I was there they were going to let him take a real shower which he was excited about. They think they got all the cancer and took some lymph nodes just to be sure. We should get the pathology report back on those on Monday. He hopes to come home tomorrow but I told him not to fight the doctor if he doesn't agree that he can come home. They are also going to do another PSA test because his levels were a bit high last time they checked it a couple of days ago. I am hoping that comes back alright because Prostate cancer runs in the family. The doctor put his hand inside dad and felt his liver and said it felt fine and the scope confirmed it. For his incision its just a 7CM cut.

Thanks for all your prayers and good thoughts and putting up with me for the last few weeks.

Janniebug,

I'm glad everything sounds so encouraging. Our Fathers are just so special to us. As the big strong figure in our lives, it is very hard when they start to show signs of wear and age, and the realization that we will not enjoy them in our lives forever hits us.

Hugs and prayers,

EJ

Well we got the pathology report back and he has to have chemo. 2 of the lymph nodes were positive. They took 14 so I'm happy that only 2 were positive. He is home now and watching Football. He was told he could drive but I don't think he will unless he has too. He goes to see his surgeon on Thursday and the oncologist the following Wednesday to get the ball rolling on the chemo.

Jannie, I know how rough this is on the whole family. I hope things go well for your dad.
