I don't have any info on or knowledge about doing a BlOG.. but I do have questions about them.. I guess it is ok I ask since the topic of a BLOG is here... What is a BLOG for.. I mean is it just to write like a journal? To get stuff off our chests??? But then people will or may read the BLOG.. I guess that would be ok.. Because if one isn't heard, even if it is cyberspace, it would be like talking to a tree.. and maybe it is being heard that is important???? or maybe even being understood??? Sooooooooo what is the purpose of a BLOG????

I hope I haven't hi-jacked the thread... If I have I am sorry... This can always be deleted.... k

No - you did not hi-jack the thread....... YOU asked a good question concerning a BLOG.

I would say that a BLOG is used to write out your feelings or thoughts on a matter or issue - as one does with a journal, and yes others can and will read it. I am going to try and use the BLOG here to help me sort out my fears and wounds on a certain subject.... to keep it all in one place.

Blogging is the same as writing a journal. But is accessable on the whole world wide webb so be careful of what information you place on it. The rule I follow is I don't write any information on my blog that I would not say directly to my friends and family and therapists. That way when those people come across my blog Im not in shoot creek with them. And I don't post any entry that contains information about other people without their permission that way I am not in trouble with copyright infringement of professionals and so on. I also follow the rule that since this is a mental health website where people go to get information about mental disorders I only post the varifyable truths so t hat I am not leading readers to believe something is possible with a mental disorder that is not possible or a part of that disorder. Basically when blogging on mental health websites or other professionally run sites those blog reflect back on the professionals that are running the blog sites. They are not going to want non factual material on their professionally run sites right. Other then that I journal away.

To get a blog page you click on the word - Blogs - at the top of this page.

Click on the words - get your own - located on the left side.

Click on - get your own free blog - again located on the left side.

Fill in the registration form for a blog.

Go to your email box

read the email that tells you how to comfirm and or your password

then come back to psych central and click on - Blogs

Click on get your own

Log in using your log in and pass word sent to you by email.

when your blog page comes up you will see one entry - hello world.

to start writing in your blog scroll down your blog page to the word admin and click on it if you are logged in you will see a new page with a tool bar

in the tool bar click on the word write or the word manage.

Manage is a list of all your blog entries you can view, edit or delete posts there.

Write is where you write your journal entries.

Referers are who is visiting your blog either by search engine or through PC and also other search engine hits. you can click on those and that will trace you back to who is entering your site and or the search engine results to see if that searcher actually entered your site or was just doing a general search.

The rest of the icons are setting up your preferences and so on for how you want your blog to run and look.
