I need everyone's help on raising mental health awareness. I'm tired of being embarrassed about it. I want to tell people. We need to tell people. It's only going to help us. How do we go abt Changing peoples prospective on it!?!?!
Thanks for this!

Hi Lexy

Unfortunately the mentally well don't know what it is like to be depressed. Sometimes I explained to them by asking them to recall the very worst day of their lives when they wanted the earth to swallow them up and then to imagine what it would be like to feel that way. Always. I read something which said that the well people all experience minor symptoms of major psychiatric disorders and trying to identify with them on those particular feelings would help. To break down stigma. Perhaps education from the classroom would be a good start. There is no reason to be ashamed, we would not be if we had heart problems, etc. so why be ashamed of depression? Take care. I hope and pray you have a really great day. God bless and best wishes from your friend Francis

sadly, people have their own judgements and their own opinions.

nothing we say/ do is going to change that.

we could raise awareness about mental health until we're out of breath. but it's still down to the attitude of that individual

and i think it's really sad
Thanks for this!

I see stigma occurring right here on PC from people who are mentally ill. I intend to make a post about it.

I love you passion about this subject, lexy. The only thing I can think of to combat stigma is to speak honestly and openly about our own mental health struggles, about the importance of medication for treatment, and stand firm when people stigmatize.

I have seen subtle changes in my lifetime, and I believe there's hope!
