Call out for any post-secondary or highschool students:

Any other students out there nearing the end of the semester? Sure, the end of the semester for me isn't until December but this is about the time when things start to come due or just happen.

Like the exam I had on Tuesday. Multiple-choice is evil, but I know I passed but by how much, not a clue.

Or perhaps the two essays due within a week of one another, first one being due on next Friday. Both research essays, both in the range of 10-15 pages and both requiring more time, effort, and brain power than I've got to spare.

Musn't forget the group assignment in my English class. Starting tomorrow for a book I've yet to read since I've run out of time and willpower. What a time to be depressed and not be capable of doing work, let me tell you. So I will quickly skim the book tomorrow AM to figure out any insight I might have into the topic our group is looking at. And then be able to read it before we present on Tuesday (hopefully, since this weekend is going to be used to clean, and write essays)

I know I seem to lack organizational skills, and have a bad tendency to procrastinate, (and sometimes I swear like I'm lacking a brain) but this is really stressing me out.

Post-secondary should come with a warning label - "May cause adverse side effects (like stress, and the physical symptomology associated with such). Do not take post-secondary if you cannot deal with stress, and is not to be mixed with attempting to have a life, have a job and maintain your sanity."

I know that the "real world" will be more hectic than this, but right now this is my reality and "real world" and I just wish to get through it with as much of my sanity intact as possible.

I'm hoping these won't be the "best years of my life", otherwise I've got nothing to look forward to.

I've been told that I've "got it easy" course-wise and that my program is easier than most. It may be but STILL this is not easy. It is not a walk in the park. It requires a whole lot of work with what seems like very little reward unless you're really "into" getting a piece of paper at the end of your degree. (And for the record my background is - I'm in my 3rd year with almost 3rd year standing in psychology in university). I've also got it easy because my disabilities prevent me from being capable of learning things at the same (insane) rate as other students. So I'm only taking 3 courses this semester. 4 next semester. And supposedly 4-5 is "normal"? I'm struggling with only THREE.

Enough ranting on my part - anyone else out there struggling right now academic-wise? Just curious.

Oh and to not scare the highschool students or people considering going to (or going back to) school ...

It can be bad. I've got a bad outlook sometimes and the stress can really get to you, but as long as you take out the evaluations and being graded on stuff ... university is alright. Classes are usually interesting, people are nice (usually) and stuff is generally pretty good - until you reach exam season or essay season or any other event that doesn't thrill you.

I am grateful to be in university, I just wish there was an easier (and nicer) way to teach me to learn and think for myself that didn't involve me runinng the "academic gauntlet" to fulfill a bunch of course requirements before I graduate. (eep!)

Hi Tanya,

Happy you appreciated my joke. "Crunch Time"?!

I really want to leave everything to last minute but have so much going on right now that it isn't actually possible. So I'm writing a research essay a week before its due instead on the two-three weeks we were actually given. Oh well.

Thanks. "Crunch Time"?!

I so know the meaning of crunch time. We start our packet in Business Machines this week and I haven't even finished the book yet. I have a test in there tomorrow and this weekend have been watching AMC's Monsterfest and Rex came over last night and we watched Batman Begins. Today instead of studying I'm out here at mom and dad's and mom and I are going to make my costume for the costume party at school. When I get home I will look at the book Yes I will look at the book.

Then on Tuesday I have a test in Accounting and think I will do ok on it. I just need to remember certain things about what to debit and what not to. Tomorrow night I need to do the mastery problem for Chapter 8 so I can get 5 extra points. Then we start our packet in there the week before Thanksgiving. She said that she does that so we can do it over Thanksgiving break yea right I'm taking that with me on our road trip. But I guess I will have too because we have to work on the packet as well as our homework she gives us in class.

I am beginning to wonder is this what I am supposed to be doing? My brain feels like it is going to explode.
