I was wondering if anyone had ever had a mental screening done on them before from a personal request.

I basically need it for a government related job that I've recently been offered. The problem is I admit to having been prescribed medication in the past. The medication was for bipolar, anxiety and depression, I was prescribed it but I never took it (at least not for lets say 5 days).

This was during a period of time when I was ages 16-17 1/2 where my mother and I were having huge arguments. She wasn't a fit parent (she had gone to jail in the past, we would have our electricity shut off, etc) and it was very frustrating for us to live together. I was also concerned for my younger siblings.

So we would call the cops on each other for domestic violence and sometimes she'd go to jail and sometimes it'd be me depending on whose side the cop at the time was on. I saw my own psychologist towards the end of this period of time who didn't believe I had any of these disorders and she helped me a great deal with coping skills and ways to communicate with my mother. I think the problem back then was.. I was acting just like she was and it didn't help the situation, along with me being an immature adolescent. Once I realized what I was doing wrong I haven't had the cops called on me and I haven't had to call them on there and we have been fine, although we still have a very bad relationship and unfortunately still live with each other. But for the last 2 1/2 years it's been peaceful because I started realizing what I had been doing wrong. She won't change herself but I can change myself.

So far everyone (psychologists and psychiatrists in my area) I have called to have a screening done has told me that I WILL be diagnosed with something. However my job just asks that I have a psychologist write a letter stating I don't have depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder and that I haven't been on any medication for the last year. Which is true.. I have never actually taken the medication longer than 1 or 5 days. Has anyone been in a similar situation? Is there anything I can do?

Im sorry but here in the USA mental Screening is where someone goes in to a mental health treatment provider and goes through a battery of tests that diagnose whether a person has a mental disorder or not and if so what those mental disorders are...

so if you went to see a psychologist and asked for a mental screening you would be asked about your past history and have to go through the battery of tests before the psychologist could write the report saying whether you have those mental disorders now or not.

example as a child I was diagnosed with ADD. as an adult just starting college I wanted to know if I still had that so that if needed I could be on the listing for a tutor.

I went to a psychiatrist, the psychiatrist and I talked for some time (between an hour and an hour and a half) then the psychiatrist gave me some tests, and a quick questionaire to fill out. his report to me said I no longer had ADD. His diagnosis was Anxiety.
