I think this belongs in the mental health board.

I'm always finding myself with nothing to do, nowhere to go, and nobody to go with. Today is Monday and a public holiday, and I'm on my computer starting threads on Psych Central.

I guess I want something constructive to do, but I want some ideas.

I will take requests, in other words, you get the opportunity to control me and tell me what to do today.

Begin,

Toilet.

Any cleaning around the house to do? Or possible exercize some way? Those are productive things that can help you feel better about yourself. Or, getting lost in a good book is always a great way to pass the time

Go on a hike, pack a nice lunch and enjoy the view. Strike up a convo with fellow hikers.

I have more work then this one eskie lover can do.....you can come to my farm & give me a hand.....bet it would take all summer even with the 2 of us working on it.

My neighbor was kind enough (for pay) to bush hog my couple of acres of grass.....& fixed my lawn tractor which I broke because of the long grass I was trying to mow....but now I have to get busy & MOW all the grass & rake up the cut grass from the bush hog because even my mulcher isn't cutting up that grass well enough (almost 3 acres of grass).

Strip & paint the front door frame so I can get the storm door installed that I purchased a month ago.....also need to strip & paint the front door.

Clean out all the weeds from the flower gardens & plant the flowers that I brought home from the Rolex horse show (some died in the heat & the petunia's have been eaten by my farm bunnies)....but I still have some that are good for planting beyond the flower pots I am still trying to get planted.

Oh yes, the back railing of my deck needs repaired because somehow it got torn down when my neighbor was doing the bush hogging.

Have to put weed killer on the vines that have been growing up my brick house.....bad for the brick....also need to weed kill all the fence rows & along the woods area where the poison ivy is growing.

Need to sand down my front deck & get the second coat of deck scapes on it because the first coat started to peal after all the snow we had 2 winters ago.

Need to finish painting the inside of my house & do some wall repair along with cleaning & washing all the carpets (doggies are terrible in the house)

Need to stain the wooden doors I had put up when I moved in & also stain all the wood for around the windows & the floor floor boards & get them cut & nailed into place.

Hmmmmmmmm.....

I couldn't justify paying the price for trash hauling as I can haul a whole truck load to the dump for much less than one month's charge....unfortunately, I have a garage full of trash bags that need to get hauled to the dump because I broke my back last year & wasn't feeling well enough to do anything like that kind of work....so this year, I am trying to get caught up. (put a whole bed of recycle bags in my truck to haul to recycle tomorrow after my DBT group.

Have to still put away my Christmas decorations & my easter decorations & re-decorate for summer.

Laundry & a weeks worth of dishes

Clean the kitchen floor because JoGI (my youngest eskie) lived in the kitchen because he fights with Leo.

Also need to clean up the back porch where I just got all the recycle stuff out of.....filled with spider webs & dead spiders that I sprayed today before I was willing to touch the bags of recycle stuff.

There are other miscellaneous fixings that I need to do like fixing the drain in the upstairs bath tub....it's been broken since I moved into the house.

Oh yes, I need to clean the basement floor & get all the cob webs out & seal the huge openings that I stuffed grocery bags into one winter to keep the cold air from blowing in & tape the AC/heat ducting in the basement that has split.

Hay......if you are really desperate for something to do.......

I also try to find time to do my painting & also my beading of jewelry & other fun beading projects......so it's not all work & no play.

Forgot, I have to get a new hinge on my horse trailer so I can use it for hauling again.....that just broke after I moved it onto my front lawn to clean it out because I was going to haul a horse for a friend.......tried to push up the ramp to move the trailer so I could mow the yard & I couldn't get the ramp up....looked closer & realized the hinge had rusted & broken. Don't think anyone will be able to lift it into place, so will need someone to hold the ramp up while I drive the trailer slowly onto my gravel driveway.

The horse riding around where I live is awesome....the most beautiful trail riding in the world....exactly what I dreamed when I was a kid. Have friends with nice arena's for more controlled riding which I needed after breaking my back last year.........so there are some really wonderful & beautiful places to ride here which is a wonderful treat once I get some work done. My problem was that I would go off & have fun before working around my place....doesn't work after a year of not being able to do anything.....this year is my catch up year........

So if you don't have anything to do & you really want something to do.....I have loads to choose from....... definitely won't get bored.

I don't have a TV, but I have my computer to play my DVD movies on.....that's my other form of entertainment along with a piano to fiddle around on for music.

So do you think my list is better than cleaning your toilet or "go take a hike"?????....lol.....I do have a couple of toilets to clean....the I just cleaned the one I always use so it's NOT on my to do list.

I suggest you turn off the computer, shower and get dressed and go out for a walk. Enjoy being outdoors, say hello to others and stop for a cup of coffee or tea or soda and relax. Bring a pad (or a piece of paper) and a pen with you.

Now that you are out of your home environment, take out that pad / paper and pen. See what other people are doing. Write down some realistic small goals for yourself that are easy and 1 or 2 more involved ones. Break the more involved goals down into small steps that you can work on daily.
Thanks for this!

These are all good suggestions, but I decided to ignore them.

Give me some simple instructions. Maybe bark them at me like a drill sergeant.

You are just getting into good weather there if I remember...as we get into our snowy weather you all are getting into your summer weather......so there should be nice walks to take......Do you live near the ocean?....I always love to walk or jog along the beach. I love to go bird watching......get the sounds of the local birds & try to match the sounds with the birds (& take the binoculars along).....I love to do that at Shaker Village that is only a few miles away from my farm.....but actually I only have to go wander around my own woods & get entertained by the wildlife.

I never liked to read much before I moved here but I found that the book club at the library & reading & getting ready to discuss it was a good monthly challenge....& it took a lot of focus because I'm a slow reader.

I also like to sit & listen to the YouTube......presentations that I find interesting since I don't have TVl.

I have to get going today also....have to go to the bank or at least call the manager & see if I can't get my money back from the stupid overdraw & accidentally did last week (today's the first day she's back when I called on Friday they said the only person who could help me wouldn't be back until today)......sometimes there are yucky stressful things we have to do in life....this is one of them.

I could use some extra strength muscles.....maybe you could teletransport them to my kitchen so I can get the faucet hose loosened up so I can replace it.

Do you like to do anything like painting?.....I never thought I was any good at painting & all of a sudden I started & completely surprised myself & everyone else around me also.....maybe you could attempt something creative......let your vulnerability loose & see what happens????? I can't paint without having something as a model to work from....but it usually turns out so much better than I could ever imagine.

I have decided to take healing's suggestion and find work at a homeless shelter. I will let you know how that goes.
Thanks for this!
