Right on my 3rd b-day, my grandmother put me to sleep for a nap. I had a dream that I went into the living room and my dad was watching a Micheal Jackson video (whatever one had him dancing on some light-up squares) on MTV (at least I presume it was MTV because, as far as I know, that was the only pop music video channel that existed in 1984). My grandmother crawled up onto the back of the couch, turned into a huge lizard and then went behind it. Uncle Ron came in to wake me up and I had a small piece of cake. My father was playing with one of those early electric race car sets. The track was yellow and it had one red car and one blue car. I asked him if I could play with it and he told me to ask him again when I was a little older. So I did when I went to visit him at 14. He flipped out and apologized and said that he had thrown it away. He bought me a brand new set to make up for his failure to follow through on his word. Everything before 3, though: a little too abstract for me to put into words.

I can remember being at nursery school at age 3 and having my babysitter pick me up to bring me home. I have more early memories of my babysitter than I do of my mom - - kind of sad.

My first memory was of me and my twin sister in walkers. Walking ourselves into the tony bathroom door to stair at our dog who had puppies. I remember saying something in baby talk to her and that's about it.

My earliest memories have to do with me being in the hospital at the age of 3. I remember trying to escape from the crib and a nurse putting a net over the top of the crib.

An earlier memory would be the day we moved from where I was born to where we lived from the time I was almost 3. I remember asking my mother for my "bottle" (still didn't want to give it up) and she told me it got lost in the moving. And I believed her.

The day the paperboy ran me down at age 2. It involved stitches and anesthesia. As I recall it was a beautiful day and suddenly WHAM.

3-4 years old. Just a stupid memory of me peeking into a garage and seeing some dusty / spiderweb-filled car & misc junk.

Kinda reflective..... dusty = unwanted. Misc junk..... sounds like my life.

I was in my playpen listening to the radio and probably dancing to the music. That sums up my childhood - me in my playpen alone with no playmates and little parental interaction.

I don't like playpens. Humans shouldn't be in cages.
Nor should non-humans for that matter.

Between 15-18mos. My relatives always look at me astonished at the things I can still see.

I remember seeing my mother come home with a new sibling of mine when I was 2 years and 10 months old. I remember touching the new baby's head.

I did some reading. The consensus among researchers seems to be that, for most people, memory goes back to age 3 and 1/2, but can go back to age 24 months. Here's the source: How far back can you remember? When earliest memories occur - NBC News.com Supposedly, it has to do with development of the hippocampus in the brain.

I can remember my exact first memory, but one of my earliest, most vivid memories was when my aunt screeched at me for biting her couch. Lmao.
