Hi, new to this place. I don't know if this is the right area to post this but hopefully you guys can help me. I am looking for a video link to R.D. Laing's symposium session with Christy the Homeless lady that suffered from schizophrenia. Any help would be welcomed and appreciated thank you. You can pm me the details. Again thank you so much for your help.

I don't think any such video exists; that was 1985.

I just spent the last hour looking all over the web and couldn't find a darned thing. Perhaps I'll try the deep web next...
Just because the session was in 1985 doesn't mean that such a video doesn't exist. I just watched a couple of videos of the actual American Expedionary Force in Siberia in 1918. So, I dunno. I guess the big question is whether or not someone actually filmed the session. If they did I suppose it's possible that a video exists. If they didn't, well... yeah. THEN there wouldn't be a video. |

I just ran across this reference to the "Christy" session:
"A most remarkable session of transpersonal psychotherapy on the record like this occurred in a cavernous convention center in downtown Phoenix, Arizona on December 13, 1985. Several thousand of us at The Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference watched on a large screen as R. D. Laing, M.D. interviewed “Christy,” a woman who was described as paranoid schizophrenic, homeless, and not taking her medication. The two were sheltered off-stage in a small curtained ‘room’ made for the occasion, perhaps to diminish the impact of thousands of observers on them. A live video feed was shown to us as the session unfolded." Well, I guess that answers the question of whether or not it was being monitored on video. But then, that doesn't mean it was being recorded as opposed to simply being watched on a live closed circuit video feed. Hmmmmm... |
