A young friend, D, of our family and his group left at 4 pm today (our time) on foot to go into Baghdad. Vehicles or tanks will not be be taken. Their mission will last 2 or 3 days and the purpose is to go door to door and capture snipers in the city. The commanders have told the soldiers what a dangerous mission this is and it is very likely that most will not come back to their base.

His wife,C,is terrified and called on everyone in our church to pray. She said the soldiers are also fearful. They were all told to call their families before they leave.

I'm asking each of you to hold these men and women in your hearts for the next several days.

Many prayers and good wishes for all, always.

My son is "safe" in Tikrit..he is now no longer covert ops but is the Safety Officer/Accident Investigator.

I also have a brother who has lived in Baghdad for several years. The precautions are wide and varied. He finds not using a vehicle but walking is the safest way to go about. To get to far away, they walk a few miles out of Baghdad, then catch a govt. vehicle.

I hope this latest increased effort will do the trick and make the area safe, so they can all come home soon.

thank you so much.

when my SIL's unit hit a roadside bomb, we found out accidentally. my daughter didn't actually get to talk to my SIL for several days. they were stranded. i'm holding out hope that word will get through soon.

if something official comes through usually the unit commander's wife notifies the other wives...as far as "accidents".....

i hate this war!!!!

Oh my....how scary. My heart goes out to all of them, and I hope whatever divine force it be, watches over all them and brings them back to base in peace....I really really hope.
