I've been under a nurse's care for over a year now who consults a pDoc very closely. I asked her this week what they think I have. Basically she said she didn't know. They're looking at a possible personality disorder and are ruling out mood disorders (not even sure what that means exactly, it seems pretty vague). It's just frustrating not knowing. I feel like a guinea pig almost - "Well let's see what this does!" with meds and not all of the affects have been... the nicest as many of you can understand. On the good side, I'm grateful they aren't jumping the gun on anything which allows me to trust my pDoc more. It's still frustrating though. Anyways, Has anyone else have this happen where the Dr. just didn't know? How did you fare with it if you did?

Yeah, I've spent several decades with p-docs and therapists in the general ballpark of my diagnosis, but they never seem exactly sure. It's very frustrating. I've been through many, many med changes over the years. It's a very difficult situation. I would go with what they're telling you...they're trying to understand whether you have a mood disorder, a personality disorder, or traits of both.
