Sensory Integration Dysfunction can result in a person actually feeling pain when touched. Can also result in a person NOT feeling the appropriate level of pain as well. The person's sensory system is not integrated - not balanced. Autistic children usually have sensory issues.
A child cannot respond to sensory information in order to respond or behave in a meaningful consistend way. Such children have a difficult time planning and organizing the "next steps" - which makes learning difficult. This is a neurological or brain wiring issue. Usually is diagnosed by an occupational therapst. Hope this helps, peanuts |
