Are Asperger's and Autism the Same Disorder?
Michanne, I did try to look it up, you are intelligent and on the autistic spectrum, that often leans more toward the higher functioning Asperger's from what I have read. |

Hypothetically from a distant point of view. There are good reasons why a forum is a terrible place to make a diagnosis. You have no idea what has led me to my conclusions or that I take almost all autism and bipolar diagnosis with a grain of salt. I actually mentioned that in this thread. I don't feel the need to justify it any further. Footnote... I have not been working for at almost 6 months. So it is not assumed, two-three months were intentional. So what you see here is somebody with time to spend in forums. In my normal life I don't even want to see a computer screen in my free time. As a person who works with data I know that is a blip in my life. Not nearly enough evidence to make the assumptions you do. I think I have accommodated your hijacking enough. Moving on... I am not diagnosing you at all, just going by what you have said about yourself.
I was listening, paying attention and I looked it up, that's all. If you take it with a grain of salt, then my suggestion is to no longer share that about yourself. And by the way, you are the one that brought "me" up in your post about long threads and you insisted on explaining "me". How those with the two conditions interact may also be a difference between Asperger’s and autism. Those with Asperger’s often exhibit signs that they want to be socially involved. They tend, however, to be eccentric and insensitive to social norms in their interactions with others. Those with autism tend to be withdrawn, self-isolating, and to not seek social inclusion. You do not seem withdrawn to me at all, that I have seen anyway. |

Stop twisting my words please. You don't give up do you? How is this "explaining you"? "Seem" is an observational word. "Long posts is something I hate and can't seem to avoid. Because it is text? Something OE and I seem to have in common. ![]() Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

personal "and" cultural is also enlightening. Something happens on a personal level, one tends to see how that can stem from an overall cultural/societal problem, something my T and I discuss a lot actually.

Interesting fact; about 60 % carry genes for depression. Which means a lot of people can actually get depressed (almost the norm)... but also interesting that the rest cannot get depression under any circumstances. Sure they can have a lot of other bad reactions, illnesses and so on, but not depression!

I agree. This is a term I've seen used here on PC, so I included on the list. Certainly not a term I'd use myself either, but apparently it works for some.

This we even learned in psych class 20 years ago when researchers failed to find any strong correlation between bad childhoods and schizophrenia and we realized schizophrenia to a big part is genetic. Someone with trauma will benefit from trauma therapy but someone without, will benefit from other approaches. This is just common sense. I'm not pointing fingers at anyone here, but in my PAST, people have been very prone to find my trauma which has been upsetting and hurtful. Since we all need the truth, it is equally upsetting as if someone who had trauma is told they imagined it... The tone of this thread has become abusive and I need to say I have never intended to drive it in that direction. I see others do though, and I think you need to think twice before saying awful things about each other. There have been good posts in this thread too, but those have been drowned out unfortunately. I want to thank the people who had something constructive to say. And to Open Eyes, if you think aspie, it is probably ME, yea I have that "awful disease", however 3 of my absolute best friends have PTSD and they like me as much as I like them.

It was the word "insulting" that got to me. If you read my other posts which are VERY long I actually back track on that and expanded. Then related it to the original post. Sorry that they are so long but when I make a short statement I seemed to get slammed for excluding something so I end up over compensating. As for off topic. Yes this seems to be an ongoing, irritating, theme I need to ignore. Something I am working on. I will not be addressing anymore of those targeted posts going forward. This thread has unfortunately turned into an argument. I'm going to close it while we discuss what to do with it.
