good luck on the appeal, when i applied for my daughters dla and sons they turned us down and i had to appeal, i think they hope ppl will not want to appeal and then they wont have to pay out so much money, so again good luck

I don't know if this will be helpful but when I applied for SSI I got a how-to book out of the library that was very useful. It gave a lot of tips about how to apply and what sort of language they are looking for on the forms.

I absolutely hate this process.

First, you get so that you cant work. You feel bad enough about not being able to work, but you apply, then they tell you you arent bad enough. So then you go back to work, and lose another job for missed time due to disability. Start circle again.

Blah.

Thats the way its been for me, anyways.

Suggestion - maybe try just reapplying again and adding more info and esourses to the second application.

I was denied the first time. A lawyer told me that the appeals process can be stretched out into 1-2 years or more. Some people as much as 5 years into the appeals process was waiting for the court dates and so on. where as if I take what I used already (just my mental disorder) and then added more (including at least two physical health problems) I may get approved in 6 months to a year. So I reapplied adding on to my mental problem PTSD and broke it down to Depression, Flashbacks, panic anxiety attacks, and then added my cerebral palsy and broke that down into cerebral pasly, muscle spasms to various degrees some of which renedered me unable to walk and hearing impaired.

It was the same thing on both applications - PTSD and cerebral palsy I just broke it down into more details By separating each part associated with my having cerebral palsy,

Then I added my kidney desease, and my learning disorder dyslexia

and then I located specialists in each thing and did a comprehensive psychological evaluation which included an IQ and learning disorders part of the test.

When they sent me a notice that they needed me to see their specialists I didn't choose between the two offered I went to both.

6 months later I recieved the check for back payments and an approval letter.

Hang in there.

Yep thats right.. I just got my mail in and I've been denied twice now. I will be seeing my case manager next week so hopefully then we will be able to decide what to do . If I should hire a lawyer or what. I dont like to get in front of people . So I am hoping I dont have to do this. Maybe just trying one more time with an appeal will do it for me. They are saying my conditions dont warrant disability. Booo hicky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
