I went through all my kids toys to prepare for the new additions. I got all the little baby toys all in a box ready to go but I don't know where to take them or what to do. I'm thinking, I want them to be free or extremley cheap for the poor families, yet I want them to be cared for and respected (as dumb as that sounds, some of the toys my grandmother gave them before she passed away). I'm not sure if Goodwill would be the best place, or the local food pantry who would give them out for free.

I gave some away to a "public" nursery, one my County runs for low-income mothers? You might call your county social services department and see if they have anything like that?

We did the same thing last week and gave two boxes to an orphanage. But the sentimental things I passed back to my mother-in-law, who is a pre-school teacher.
Perhaps, if you have storage, you could store the items you are more sentimental about.

I didn't remember the "storage" option, Sabrina, thanks for reminding me!
I don't have any children of my own but am the "repository aunt" for my 3 brother's children (and have some of my stepsister's things too since I'm 13 years younger) and I've giving an odd book or toy, piece of jewelry or figurine to my nieces/nephews as they are growing up. Save them for grandchildren, etc. I had a kimono my father brought back to me from Japan in 1952 when I was 2 and couldn't figure out what to do with it but gave it to my granddaughter, my husband's son's daughter; my father-in-law (and my husband, his family) was stationed in Japan in the 1950s with the Navy too and is deceased and I felt our granddaughter having the kimono would be a good "symbol"/reminder of her great grandfather's career, etc. ![]()

That is a sweet story Perna, I definitley think I will keep a few of the toys my hgrandmother got for my children, I may pass those ones on to either my nephew or my children's children.
Thatis an adorable little girl there...thanks so much for sharing that with me.
