May 4th Archbishop Desmond Tutu and the Dalai Lama are encouraging people to take the 30-Day Journey of Forgiveness

Forgiveness Challenge | Tutu Global Forgiveness Challenge

I have signed up for this because I still carry issues from my past that I have to let go of for me. Anybody curious or interested?

Thanks for posting this. I think I'm going to sign up. There are some people I need to forgive, not for their sake, but for myself and my own sanity and well-being. Most interesting in the FAQ section, it talks about forgiving yourself...and I do need to learn to forgive myself. If you want to PM me sometime about it, please do.

It was pretty recently , within the past several months that I have been finally able to forgive everyone who has hurt me in my lifetime. Two people that were the hardest were my dad and second husband. I felt a giant burden lift off me once I was able to do that. I have come to not only be able to forgive people, but to also include them in my prayers as well. My dad died a while back, and as much as he hurt me and my brothers, I have actually found myself praying for his soul. He was an atheist, so because I do still and always did love him, it kills me wondering if he is in purgatory or worse. I hope my prayers are heard for him. We all make mistakes and hurt each other, but forgiveness is key, I think towards moving on to a better place in our own lives. Keeping grudges does nothing but keep negative energy in our path towards growth.

I have a serious problem with my father. I just realized it and
how angry I have been with him. I am hoping to learn how I
can truly forgive him.

I am on Day 1 of the Forgiveness Challenge and there is a forum open on it for the participants. One participant really opened my eyes with a simple statement in which she said she is lookinf forward to forgiving herself and others. I never even thought of forgiving myself!

This was a real eye opener. Have we given much thought to forgiving ourselves? Perhaps we should.
