I posted this on the bipolar forum, but also wanted to get feedback here. I am not sure if it is a bipolar problem or what...

I was recently diagnosed with being bipolar, although I suffer more from depression than mania.

Lately, I get so overwhelmed and frustrated and the smallest thing will set me off and then I find myself throwing things or self-injuring. I am seeing a pdoc and taking my meds as I should and I will discuss this with him, but I also wanted feedback from any of you.

I am just so overwhelmed. I look at dishes to be washed and I feel overwhelmed and get just so angry.

doesn't make any sense to me...

Help!!!

Thanks-
valerie

i was diagnosed with bipolarII, as i had more lows than mania. i recently had a Pdoc decide that i'm not bipolar and that i have major depressive episodes. wash dishes? ha! my friend comes over and does them.....i'm using paper plates again and cups. my hair trigger temper is gone, long gone, but i still get frustrated as all get out with the depression.

i wish i could help you more.....PM me if you need to.......take care, pat

Thanks so much for helping me to feel not so alone in all of this. I especially liked the part about washing dishes...lol. I just hate that most everything gets dumped off on my husband who says he doesn't mind and just wants me to get well. But this is a long road I have to travel.

Valcat, I don't do dishes, either! need some feedback on this

In my own personal experience with depression, I have found that anger is quite common... for no apparent reason. It will just suddenly rear it's ugly head.

Keep taking your meds and if there is no improvement after 6 weeks to 2 months, talk to your prescriber. need some feedback on this

You certainly are not alone in this!

I have a friend with bipolar & she has incredible rages. I will get a little irritable when manic if people at work make mistakes that require my time to fix them, but I've never had the rage thing. It is quite common from what I read. Keep hope that you'll find the right meds.--Suzy

Hello and welcome to Psych Central. I am very glad to hear that you are being honest with your Dr who can help you. You may be able to get help from a case manager at your Psych office at this time since you are in an adjustment period with your medication, and tring to juggle everything while getiing adjusted. A case manager may can help you get the help you need or help you with the housework until you feel less overwhelmed, and help with other things that may be triggering you at this time, so that you can get better and be able to manage the daily tasks in a better manner. You will have to ask your therapist about getting a case manager if your Dr or therapist has not mentioned getting a case manager for you. Take care I hope things get better fro you soon, maybe your family or a friend can help you until you get a case manager. Soidhonia
