My name is Shannon, and I am 19 years old. I am on dialysis and tryig to get a transplant. I am a member of some dialysis forums, but one in particular is critisizing me for wanting to have a baby and being engaged to a 40 year old man. I don't think age matters when it comes to love. We love each other very much and want to be together forever. Here's a link to some of the things that have been said: http://ihatedialysis.com/forum/index.php?topic=2294.0 Read the whole thing. It gets bad... G2G...I'll write more later...Sorry!!

I think several good points were raised in the discussion. I think it would be beneficial for you to get some therapy before you attempt to have a baby.--Suzy

I actually have talked to a coucelor before bc one of the transplant centers wanted me to before accepting me on their list, but the coucelor said that there was nothing to councel me on. I am going to talk to my doctor about having a baby next week. I know that it could be harmful, but there is a possibiltiy that it could work, too, right? It's healthy to take risks. Everyone takes risks when they want a baby anyway. No one knows whether they will have a healthy baby or not. My mom was very healthy and had me, with all these medical problems. (If you want to know my medical history: http://angiee1973.proboards42.com/in...ad=1168991645)
But I will do what my doctor thinks is best, I promise!! lol

Hi Shay,

The decision is ultimately yours. As long as you are satisfied with your decision then it's no one else's business.

You sound like you have a good head on your shoulders and have carefully thought this out. I agree that you should talk with your doctor and then after you hear what he says about it, then you will be able to decide what's best.

Good luck.
