Thanks Hellion. I don't want anyone thinking I condone the behavior, if it's true. I worry most about our judicial system as it stands now. If it's true, the boss would basically get a slap on the wrist - maybe even kudos from the guys down at the tavern. He'd most likely be able to pull his life back together and start over, even if it becomes a big story. But the workers and their families would be the big losers. They have no power in the judicial system, no strong allies/advocates on their side. With the political atmosphere as it is, they don't even have the support of American society. If it were to become a big story, reporters would probably focus on the sex abuse aspect - because they know stories like that sell. Or they'd use it for a "teaching moment," then quickly sweep it under the rug. Again, the boss would have the chance to redeem himself (maybe even profit) - but it would only devastate the employees and their families even further.
I think the workers should at least be given a heads up before having their lives uprooted and destroyed - even if it's for the intent to "save" them from their boss. |

Brasucasulu how do you report it....the same way you do any other crime. you go to your police department and make a statement. then the police department will give the report to the sex abuse and FBI (illegal immigrants falls under FBI and border control jurisdiction) then the FBI immigration department and sex abuse department will take everyone into custody, do their investigation, if a crime is indeed happening the persons committing the crime will be prosecuted and the immigrants will be either issued temporary green cards to remain in the USA or deported if they have criminal backgrounds or want to go back to where they came from.

Just call the police. That's all you have to do. I don't know if there is a special department within law enforcement that handles a case like this. But let the police worry about that.
Let me tell you something... last year, I reported my best friend's niece for physically abusing her 3 month old daughter. It was one of the most difficult things I had to do. I've known my friend's niece her entire life, and she is a troubled individual. My friend told me about the abuse but didn't know what to do about it. She didn't want to report her own niece. Once she told me I was conflicted, just like you. But I knew that her daughter did not deserve that treatment. I called and reported the abuse to CPS (child protective services) and did so anonymously. A social worker was sent out to the home and the mother got help. Today they are doing better. I know it's not the same situation, but that little girl could not stand up for herself, and neither can your friend's workers. Be that voice. |

It doesn't matter that they're from another country, that doesn't make it ok to enslave them. It doesn't matter that they're men either, they're still being forced to have sex against their wills even if it's for a wad of currency, that doesn't make it ok and it doesn't mean they consent. Saying he's hired some illegal aliens sounds significantly less evil then he's built a harem of male sex slaves but that's what they are and that's what has happened, that's how they're being used.

I'd be conflicted too. If I'm in their position I wouldn't want to be reported. I recommend looking for resources that you can give to these people so they can escape from that hellhole.
A slap on the wrist for the business owner and legal trouble for the immigrants does not sound like justice to me. If you'd like to handle it responsibly, find a local immigrant refugee community organization that support illegal immigrants, and talk about it to them. Perhaps you could help set up some Asylum situation, and still report the guy while helping the workers at the same time. Last edited by Aella; Sep 04, 2014 at 01:26 AM. |

Im a construction manager in Miami. If they are truly illegal, they will be deported. Within the 8 weeks the process of deportation will take they will go home for a much needed "vacation" and spend time with their families and return to do the laborious work lazy Americans won't do for half the salary. Be ashamed to call this dirt bag a friend and call the State Attorneys office. This guy needs to be behind bars. For the most part illegal immigrants are the most faithful and genuine people you could ever meet. I am close friends with quite a few and have stayed in touch with them years after they've left America. They, for the most part are here to make a living and in 10 to 15 years of hard labor can return to Mexico and buy land, farm eqiupmemt and their family is doing well for generations. Some open small convince stores, some just buy a house to shelter their entire family. If you feel any guilt in turning in this "friend", private message me with the details, it would be my pleasure.
