Our house is still a work in progress. We were shut down by the building inspector a few weeks ago. He said that our bedroom windows weren't large enough and that the wood that we had replaced was not pressure treated and had to be taken out and redone.
With our windows we signed a paper saying the house was just a one bedroom and not 3 so we only had to replace one window. Our ceilings are only 7 feet and he wanted 5 foot windows saying that a fireman had to be able to carry a person out the window. As for the wood, we found out that the reason they wanted pressure treated wood was because of termites. So we had the wood treated, well the whole house treated for termites. That ended up costing us $1400. But we are cleared to start working again. Yesterday they delivered our drywall. They brought it in through the front window. Well they ended up busting the frame of the window in the process. They said that they are going to replace it, but that just puts us behind even more. My kitchen cabinets are sitting in the gargage. Every time it rains I hope that they don't get wet. But we are starting drywalling tomorrow and I hope to be in the house by the end of march. I'm execited because this is our first house and the first time my husband and I have lived by ourselves. We have lived with his family for the last 17 years. So this is a big thing for the both of us. We are really looking forward to having our own place and being able to have things the way we want them. Lisa

Seems like the stuff we want the most takes the longest time to happen! Congrats on your new soon-to-be-home, though! Living with relatives is the pits -- I know you'll be thrilled to have your very own space! Congrats!
