just thought I'd share these here because I really can't anywhere else:
My mother-in-law wishes me "a happy birthday and many many more" and my first thought is, hey, let's not get carried away here - I don't necessarily want too many more like this.
Then I went to the gym today and I wanted to be sure to go today so I could hear the machine that scans my card wish me a happy birthday.
Then I the added bonus of the people behind the counter hearing the machine and also wishing me a happy birthday and I thought, wow, this must be what its like to have friends who wish you happy birthday. I have a lot of facebook friends, some are people I know, who wish me happy birthday via facebook but only family actually calls me or says it in person.

Thanks for this!

I'm like you I don't want many more like this year.

Seriously, I'm glad you shared your thoughts.

Birthdays are hard for me too, especially since my mother died. For some reason I tie my birthday more to her than I do to me, after all, she was the one that gave birth. I don't have people that call me either. I might get a text from my daughter and a "happy birthday" from my husband but that's about it. That's about it for my "special" day. I'm getting where I don't want to remember it anyway. Getting too old for birthdays.

I hope the rest of your day is happy.

texts and facebook have really replaced calling people to a large extent, I think. Whenever your birthday rolls around, I hope you have a good one that's worth remembering!

Well, here's another happy birthday wish for you! Having two of my kids be away and having them call me really means a lot and reminds me that my parents need to have that as well from me - something I've not always been good at but have been much better at since I'm in their shoes now.
