Hello,

Wherever I read, they say not to make big decisions when you are experiencing a mental condition. I know I am. It's a combination of anxiety, depression and who knows what else. My big decisions have to do with moving and leaving a job, finding a new job or taking a year off. So these are big decisions, and obviously they give me anxiety in themselves.

However, the source of my original condition today is a prolonged living in my current locale and staying with my current job, so everything that I do around here, everyone that I see around here causes me to feel down, depressed and anxious. In fact, it got to the point that I've begun to associate almost every aspect of life (both ordinary and acting out) with the current location/situation, so the same type of activities, or similar locations cause me discomfort, negativity and anxiety. E.g. something as simple as making myself dinner, or going to a restaurant, or seeing the same setup of buildings, etc.

So, I'm caught in this trap where staying means getting worse, and not staying is unclear because I've reached a point due to all of the negativity with pretty much all of the normal activities where I don't know what to do next (e.g. quit the job and move where? do what? do what type of work?). Wherever I imagine, I see negativity.

My question is: has anyone made a big decision such as changing/quitting a job, moving to a new place and had success in their mental condition improving?

Thanks

Hi stuck1978

I have had a lot of experience moving around the country USA and quitting jobs because I thought a huge change would make me feel better and in actuality it did not when I made those choices due to emotions.

Case in point...I lost my dog last year. I was distraught and I moved to another state and after 4 months I knew I had made a bad decision. I was not any happier and it just didn't make sense.

I would say to be very careful about making these big decisions because we carry ourselves with us no matter where we go.

Sometimes it is a good decision but please give it a lot of time and a lot of thought. Mental issues just go wherever we go.

Hope this helps

Thanks for this!
