In my case of psychosis I will hear someone talk and my mind will re think it and sometimes get it wrong. If your rethinking something your trying to remember it so I think psychosis is a function of the average mind but while your asleep. No one really thinks in their sleep they just get wild dreams that feel like they are pre thought about, so psychosis is obviously a function of sleep that has stopped working. The reason our mind plays sound back to us is because it needs to remember them, only to be forgotten by you, but still fresh in your mind for when you might need it. So yeah if a therapist could create some way to switch you back I could possibly be the answer

That's an interesting theory. Have you looked up the definition of psychosis. I think I will just out of curiosity to see how close you are.
