How do we know; or are we notified that a member has changed their screen name?

Hmm -

I am not for sure..... but based upon what I have seen in the "Community Guidelines" you are only allowed one NAME and it cannot be changed.

Per DocJohn:

These forums are for mutual support and information sharing only. Advertisements, announcements, research requests or any type of research on the content of these forums are strictly prohibited. Unless otherwise noted, copyrights of individual messages are owned and retained by their original poster. Unauthorized use or reproduction of any material found on these forums is strictly prohibited without prior authorization of the copyright holder. A valid email address is required to complete your registration. Only one member account per individual. People registering more than one account may lose all accounts on the forum, and all forum access.

But now I wonder how that effects ppl that have terminated their accounts and then come back at a later time...... with a new name (that which I have seen at least once on here).

You aren't allowed multiple accounts, but you can change the screen name that you have, the one that people will see, while the name you log in with will remain the same. The only way you will notice a change is if that member annouces it or if you look at their previous posts, it will change the name there too.

Thanks StargazerLily. That is exactly what shows on my lists - all the previous posts have been changed.

WHEW!

I thought I had sent a PM to someone else by mistake, because I did not notice the name change until after I hit the reply message button.

I haven't been a registered member for very long but have been reading here for a long time and even though the rule says no name changes I have foud posts where people have changed their names on here. sometimes the reason is they didn't remember their account stuff so they asked for a name change, other times they got the name change because someone in their real time regestered here or found them here. So I know that even though the rule is no name changes it does happen but unless the person posts that they have name changes its hard but not impossible to know who changed. One time a friend and I changed our names on a website but those that knew us knew right away who we were because we didn't change our posting styles and profiles and such things as that that gave away who we were. Because its online all anyone has to go by is how a person posts, what language they use, ecetera and once you get to know someones way of posting and "talking" its easy to tell when they change their name.

attentionThis is an old thread. You probably should not post your reply to it, as the original poster is unlikely to see it.
