Dear Seeker, this sounds extremely uncomfortable for you. Although like some violent TV (although I watch it on Netflix -- no commercials which REALLY bug me), I don't like to see cruelty like the first episode of Season 2 of "24" series, which right from the beginning showed graphic waterboarding. I turned that of REAL QUICK. But I TOTALLY relate to being bugged A LOT when people watch loud TV all day long. I think it's totally rude to blast the TV when one has company. I don't know what to say about this situation, when it's me at someone's home or you at work as a caregiver. If it's someone I know, I try not to go back over there. My personal friends don't do that, but some relatives do (so I never visit them), and relatives of my boyfriend do, too. Fortunately the last time we went to his relatives, we sat in the kitchen and visited with each other and one or two other people, and did not see the huge TV in the living room. That worked out so I could at least tolerate being over there. One possibility -- would it work for you to bring over cards or a board game -- I don't know whether it's part of your job to interact with him/her, to be a senior companion, etc? Maybe you could find out something she really like to and share that activity with her? That would take some ingenuity on your part, to try to bring the person/s out of their dumpy lives.
Thanks for this!

Thanks Flowerbells. I have to follow the care plan first. It seems so many people are addicted to TV. They have little interest in real life.
I am going to see what I can do with all the suggestions on here.

And if Spotify is too heavy for your phone to handle (the software, not the music!) there's also TuneIn radio which is a radio app that let's you listen to any kind of music or talk radio you want.
Thanks for this!
