I recently started buying music on iTunes, but now I can't stop obsessing over which songs I want. I keep deleting songs one day, and then a couple hours later deciding that I want them again, and then the next day deleting them again, and on and on. It's really driving me crazy.

And I keep listening to them over and over to make sure I really like them, and if I find something I don't like in a song then I'll delete it... but then later decide I like it again and download it over again.

Does this sound more like ASD or OCD? They both seem similar to me, and I'm wondering if I could have one. This music problem is just one example... I get like this a lot with other stuff too.

Hello Ryan, sounds like OCD to me but we can't diagnose on here. You might like to try these online quizzes to get a better idea of what is going on with you >>>> Psychological Tests and Quizzes and The Sanity Score - Test Your Mental Wellness Your own doctor is the best person to go and see if these behaviours are troubling.

It sounds like detailed thinking leading up to black and white thinking, like a small detail can spoil the whole. This is basically one of the bases of perfectionism.

This is not a diagnostic label, but I have myself found myself in trouble because I am a detail thinker. It is more a mental style rather than a disorder but in some cases it can create problems. Being not a detail thinker comes with its own set of issues.

Try to accept imperfection. Try to get and accept a greyscale. Not easy but possible. I have been able to in several areas of my life.

Good luck.

I am not a doctor or a nurse but, I know that we can have two different disorders that co exist so maybe it is both. I would strongly suggest asking your doctor about this.

I forgot to add my thoughts on how to solve the music thing. I would keep all music that you download and at the end of each month if you still don't like something then I would delete the songs you don't want I can't image it's helping you out financially if you are purchasing the same songs over and over again.
