Some of you may remember that I had company coming from NH and MA. They are here now until Wednesday.

Their significant others and my sister-in-law have all been evacuated. Two of them were evacuated by rescue boats as the river crested and the water is knee high and rising rapidly.

There is a threat that the berm will wash away and if that happens their condos/homes will get slammed with at least 4 feet of water.

My guests are very stressed and are having trouble getting in touch with their families. Phone service is sporadic, both land lines and cells. They are afraid of losing their homes and cars etc. as they were evacuated so quickly they couldn't even get clothes.

I am trying to keep them as calm as I can but all this makes me wicked nervous too. Flooding in New England

I am so glad that these friends are safe and dry with you for the time being. Of course this is nerve-wracking for them and you.

MA is Massachusetts - ME is Maine

((((((((Petunia & Friends))))))))) I know this is so scary right now. I live in NH and we are having a terrible time with flooding too. My best friend had to evacuate her condo this afternoon too. Luckily, she is taking it in stride.

Have your friends tried calling the Red Cross for information regarding evacuees? They may be able to help.

I wish them all good luck and they're in my prayers!

Hugsssss

Thanks everyone. I am trying not to appear too stressed so that they'll settle down, but it's not easy. Flooding in New England

sabau,

They are high and dry at a friend's house right now in Derry or Auburn, can't remember which one although they are pretty much the same if I remember correctly. Flooding in New England

They have left a contact number with someone who will let them know when they can go back. My sister-in-law heard about the evacuation and tried to get home in time to get the cat but the roads were closed. Flooding in New England

I'm sorry to hear about the problems your guests are having. I hope their houses are not badly damaged.

Two condemned dams broke and one of their homes was flooded with 4 ft. of water. Computer gone. TV gone. New furniture gone. Will need extensive repairs but the family is safe and that's all that matters. Lots of tears here as my sister-in-law feels guilty that she's here and can't be with her hubby. She is leaving on an early flight tomorrow. Flooding in New England

Thanks everyone. Company has left and are heading home to assess the damage. I guess FEMA is getting involved. Again, they are safe and that's all that matters. Walls and floors can be replaced. Flooding in New England
