What is wrong with that Phelps family??? They're planning on protesting at the funerals of the Virginia Tech victims! They say the killer was doing God's work!!! I don't care if you're religious or not--this is truly [BLANK]ed up!!!!!

I agree...........I really think God must hate them instead...... I know I do, and I consider myself "Christian".

Such a sad group of people!

My prayers are with the students, families and friends of VT.

Oh, I know the funerals will go on. And I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if many people do as they did with a soldier's funeral the Phelps gang was protesting in Atlantic City, and form a ring by joining hands to kind of create a fence around the funeral to let them have it in peace. I'm just sickened by these people, is all.

I'm not surprised by this gang anymore. I quit being shocked at what they do a long time ago. And I believe most of it is for publicity; they have agreed to not protest sometimes, in exchange for TV publicity.

It's just so vile, and so cruel. I did hear that there was an interview somewhere with four people who escaped that family, lucky them. I'm sure they have a lot of issues after being raised in that family. I wish them well.

And thanks, all. Despicable!!!

There are many sick people in this world. I can only imagine what has happened to them to make them believe such a horrible thing. As hard as it is, I try to have compassion for them. I don’t agree and I think it is sick, but they obviously have some sort of mental illness. Sane people would not think like that.

I never heard of the Phelps clan either. You're not alone on that one.

you do know that veterans on Harleys (and other cycles) show up at these funerals and ride back and forth to shield the funeral goers from these nuts? i would expect them to extend that same courtesy to the students.

they seem like a very dedicated group of people. they work very hard to shield the families at the funerals.

I was speechless when I read the article. These people are such hypocrites! *Sigh*. I'll just stop there before I get really worked up. Anyways... I was so amazed by these people that I did further research into their "group" and the more I learned the more disgusted I was. Here is a link if anyone else is interested to know more about these disgraceful people: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church

Thanks, Anony, for posting the Wikipedia link. In short, the Phelps gang (as I call them) are a group (mostly family) of 100+ people who are religious fundamentalists who protest the funerals of gays (at Matthew Shepard's funeral, they protested with signs saying that MS was in Hell), soldiers and others, and say that God is going to destroy America because we allow homosexuality and other "sins." They own a highly offensive domain name (besides godhatesamerica.com), which I'll post, minus the offensive word: godhates[offensive term for gay people].com.

Here's some videos where you can see some of the Westboro Baptist Church's members and their craziness (just type in "Phelps" on YouTube.com for more):
