As painful as watching it was, I feel it may go toward really bringing home the message that if someone appears a danger then someone must do something..I was extremely sad for the relatives as I watched the news coverage, and hoped they could escape the coverage, but I was compelled to watch as more a need to understand that which appears unexplainable..I hope some good will come of it!! unlike the useless movies that are produced depicting this kind of thing taht people pay to watch!

part of the trouble comes of there being some rather huge number of people who might possibly be a danger... and there really isn't any hard and fast way to sort that huge number into some more manageable figure for us to offer appropriate treatment to them.
there isn't enough love in the world :-( i have trouble with media coverage / portrayal more generally... but... people will insist on watching / supporting it... |

Hi everyone-I voted no. I am all for someone getting the help they need and for people reaching out to others, and I feel they did. My heart goes out for the families and friends, and the school for what they have been through. To show what this student was feeling was so disturbing to me not because he felt this way, but because of what it had to have done to those that lost loved ones and friends.
I find it very disturbing that so much coverage was given. It seems that everyday, there is something in the news about something like this. The more coverage given and the more details-in my opinion opens the door to others to top what was done. It seems like each time the events get bigger, more are killed and things get more bizzarre. There are alot of hurting people that need help but there are those looking for a way to get attention. To give so much information that could plant seeds of destruction into the wrong hands is dangerous. You never know what one may do if ideas get stirred. This is just my opinion and I am in no circumstance discounting what others feel. |

Does anyone recall if NBC, before showing the video clips, stated a warning to viewers that the content of the videos contained violent images and dialogue? I saw the aired videos but can't recall any mention beforehand of the violent nature of them and any warning to viewers that because of the extreme violent content they may choose not to view it, and to be sure that children weren't present during the viewing.

There was a long lead in before they got to the pictures in which Brian Williams said...
"We are sensitive to how all of this will be seen by those affected and we know we are, in effect, airing the words of a murderer." |

That would have been much harder to cope with of course. Good point.
