I have a new neighbor. She goes around pounding everyone's door except mine. She wants to use the phone, ask a favor, or whatever. I've ignored it and ignored it and ignored it.

Cher has been sick for two days. Today she wasn't able to sleep because the neighbor kept pounding on people's doors. Tonight Marlee and I arrived home from the circus and she, (Marlee), quickly fell asleep.

The pounding started again. I ignored it. It started again at 11:30. I opened the door and told the woman that she is keeping all the neighbors awake and had been all day. Another woman stepped out of the apt and informed me I was wrong and I informed her back that I wasn't and it needs to stop. I did compliment the lady on her hair. She had it done today and it looks nice. If you can find one good thing to say about a person, it eases the tension.

Cher, who heard it all, about had a heart attack. She reminded me that we have to live here. Well, that's what I'm trying to do; live, not suffer!

I shall go explain to the manager on Monday. If the neighbor starts it again tonight, I may call the police though I hate to do so.

Aack!

Jan

Hope you had fun at the circus....

Sounds like you have a not so fun circus at home with this neighbor. Best to nip that one right now.

Nice hair though...lol

Well, I realized after I started telling her how rude she was that if I could just compliment her someway it might calm me down. Her sister or whomever was there did not appreciate me, I'm sure. I am normally the most polite and kind neighbor you'll ever meet. The pounding just finally got to me. There is a huge difference in knocking and in pounding on a door.

Yep, Pat. HUGE! She must take her fist and pound. It honestly sounds like someone is taking a hammer to the doors. When one neighbor avoids her, she just goes to the next one and pounds on it. Aack...

Maybe we could put her with your ducks in your neighbors' yard. Well, Now I've Done It

Hugs,

Jan

That sucks! I hate when you reasonably complain about an annoyance, and then someone comes out, as if to speak for everyone else, that no one is annoyed but you.

I won't blame you for going to the manager or calling the police if it continues. Please let us know if it does and what happens.

I'd go to the manager and the police.

But first I'd wait 'til she started banging and start banging back. I wouldn't say a word. Just bang back LOL

Well, Now I've Done It

Hopefully new neighbor will be mortified, wasn't aware how much she was pounding :-) Or, new neighbor will get situated/moved in enough to not need so much pounding. If I had the nerve :-) I would have gotten upfront and personal, said she was keeping "Me" awake and done a little stretching of the truth and said I'd been ill, for Cher's sake (then the busybody other neighbor wouldn't have been able to put her half cent in :-)

is it possible to tape the LOUD knocking then go to the manager and complain, or have a tenants meeting and set up building rules?

I wonder what is percitating her need to pound on peoples doors at any hour of the day and night. Is she lonely? Is she scared? Does she have an illness that contributes to her behaviors? Sometimes, finding out what makes a person tick, we can then find a solution to the problem.

I certainly understand how frustrating it can be to hear that, especially so late at night. It's unnerving to say the least. Maybe she needs to be taught how to knock politely?

I hope going to the manager helps the situation. Good luck Jan!!!

It wasn't another neighbor, it was the neighbor's guest who said that to me.

I mentioned the nieghbor to the manager before. I was concerned about her welfare. She was being teased downstairs and I didn't know if I should step in or not. After watching for a while, I decided she was holding her own and got on the elevator. The manager told me not to open my door to her and that she is manipulative and puts on an act. You see, I'm so tall that when she comes up to me unexpectedly, she screams. She's very short and if I'm standing at my door she screams. It got old fast. I finally told her to just quit it because she knew I would never, ever hurt her. She hasn't screamed since although she did tell me I was going to be the death of her because she is always surprised when she sees me. Well, Now I've Done It

So, that's how it stands. We'll see what happens.

Hugs,

Jan

Oh, my. Your plate certainly is full, Jan, with one thing after another.

Is it allowed for residents to post "Do not disturb after x p.m." signs on their doors? We cannot have such signs in the building where I live.

Why not call the manager within earshot of the pounding tonight??? I think she must have some courtesy, as she hasn't pounded on your door, maybe knowing that you are not well???? Why not give her the neighbor's phone numbers, so she can call them instead??? Well, Now I've Done It

I don't know, Wants. It makes a lot of sense for the neighbor's sake. She doesn't pound on "my" door, just everyone else's doors.

The manager won't come here at night. There is management on site M-F from 8-4:30 or so. I do really like the manager. She's got a really hard job and she's always been good to me. There is an emergency maintenence # to call in the evenings and weekends, but management doesn't come to help.

Hugs,

Jan

Sky,

Well, apparently she doesn't have a phone and that's part of why she pounds on the neighbors' doors! She also doesn't have any matches to light cigarettes and that's another reason to pound on the neighbors' doors. Aack!

Hugs,

Jan

I'd suggest buying her a cheap phone and a month of phone service (after that, she'd have to pay), but she'd probably ring everyone's phones too loudly, LOL!

Is she familiar with this new service available? They're called "stores," and you go to them, pick out what you want, pay for everything, and take it home, and you get to keep it, and use it all for your very own! You should tell her about this! It's wonderful! Well, Now I've Done It
