I connected with a university med group that has a psychiatry group. I was excited when they called me back. However, they will get back to me after the doc decides whether I am "worthy" of his treatment time. This is not the first time I received this type of response. Last spot I waited 10 weeks. Then I rec'd a "sorry we have to cancel" letter in the mail. I also tried a program that has daily social involvement / treatment. I didn't qualify because I'm not POOR enough. Bottom line .... No one available. No one cares.

I can see why you would be disappointed and frustrated. Finding the right treatment is sometimes difficult. I hope that this group finds a place for you. You deserve it.

Universities are often focused on research, so if you don't meet the particular criteria of their studies they aren't interested.
I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time finding someone to help. Recently I have been researching the possibility of changing pdocs and have had similar difficulties finding anyone in my area. It's quite shameful how hard it is to find care. Get yourself on as many pdoc's calendars as you can, even if the wait is long. Maybe someone will have a cancellation and you'll be bumped up. In the meantime, if you feel you are in crisis, I would recommend going to the ER. Not a happy choice, but sometimes the best one available. ![]()
